New monitor and graphics card
« on: August 17, 2010, 12:19:31 PM »
So I was thinking of getting a 1920x1080 monitor but I don't want it to be like.. really expensive.
also I want a graphics card good enough to run games on it on full resolution but I don't wanna give out more than 300€ each.
What do you guys suggest?

Pretty much any monitor should be fine, just make sure it has a decent response time, 5ms or less, and all the connections you want.

and for a video card I have no clue, higher end ati probably?

Actually I'm more used to Nvidia if that's ok.

e: is there an Nvidia card that can run games like The Saboteur around 100€?

The Saboteur isn't the game to judge tbh, although it has amazing graphics (and its a fucking amazing game with insane story), i could run it with my shitty old 9500GT with very smooth fps  :ajaja:

The Nvidia cards start at ~190€ with the GTX460

I'd suggest getting a HD5770. Or wait a bit until the 6-series come out. Then you could probably afford a HD5830 or HD5850.

I'd rather never take ATi anymore.. nVidia 4ever. If I take the monitor FIGHTER suggested I have about 100€ left.. would a GeForce GTS 250 be any good? I just wanna be able to run it at 1920x1080 with shadows and for the rest doesn't really matter to me..
