[Didn't read all reply]

It only seems like you getting that powerful video card for the sake of it, not because you need it.
Same goes for the CPU.
What kind of games would you want to play ? and are you determined you want max resolution ?

A 5770 might be more than enough.

@ Mythic: oh nothing short of shitty drivers include BSODs with crossfire, insane artifacting, terrible CP, broken temp sensors, poor compatability with dx9 games, etc etc.
Why isn't this the first time I'm hearing that... And why does every time I hear that later comes this:

its been like 2 years since i had ati tho, maybe its different now.
Yeah. It is. :)

but ati is slightly better because of the price/performance ratio.
Yes, also true.

u guys are scaring me with this 'fanfagboy' and driver/hardware issue.  :ninja:

so , overall , should i get this card or not  ?
It's very unlikely that you'll have to face any driver/hardware issues in case you do everything right when buying a new GPU.

No, you shouldn't get this card. Try ATi Radeon HD 5770 in case you only want to change your GPU. In case you want a whole new PC contact me at MSN when you know your budget.

I'm not trying to act like a smartass im just telling the truth based on my experience.

No I'm not a 'fanfagboy'. It's just that Nvidia has totally failed with their 400 line of cards in my opinion. Therefore it's better to go with an ATi videocard.
Hyperthreading isn't THAT useless by the way. If you ever had a CPU with hyperthreading you WILL notice the difference in some applications. Yes the 860 is a little overpriced but I'd still go with it if I had the choice.
I've always hated ATi, got this computer, supposed to be an extreme gaming one, seems I can't even play SA at max while I can play at max with my OLD computer. aaand that's a fail of ATi. but this is a pretty fucking old card which is even more retarded. lilj: I have an i7 that was built in so I can't judge if it's a waste of money or not but it plays 1080p fine

Seriously? Was it EXTREME GAMING PC with big letters? Seriously dude, perhaps it's a lot more helpful telling which card do you have? Huh? Get GPU-Z from here and post the screenshot of the main window here.

It's probably your GPU playing the 1080p videos anyway.

KM, i had 3 i7's in past. I've used a i7 920, i7 930 and an i7 980X. All have HT, and i didn't see any gain in rendering videos, compiling programs and gaming performance increases compared to a PhII 940 and 1095T respectively. turning ht off on all of them increased fps in cod4 by a good 50-70 frames. rendering and compiling shit with ht on or off didnt make any difference, same time overall. im using i7 930 right now as it was the cheapest out of all of them to buy. whats strange was some slowdowns i had with the i7's when rendiring a video for example, it would slow down a few apps. this was not present with any of the AMD's. no, not amd fanboyfag either, im just sad that i siwtched to intel lol.

many games benefit from disabling ht, since almost all games out there today are only optimized for running on 4 or 2 cores (i have yet to see a game take use of all 4 cores). the only thing that may take advantage of HT is ur OS, but even then the increase is minimal. there are a few shitty games that might benefit from it tho, maybe gtaiv, i havent bothered playing that POS on my i7 so Labi try turning ht off and see the performance difference please.

@lilj: the card 5850 is a good buy if u have the money.

Then don't bring it out as "ATi sucks" in case you don't know what you're talking about. Do the research every time you buy a new PC or a part to your PC rather than checking out which package has the fanciest EXTREME GAMING texts.
