Upgrade

Well to play the game i need to upgrade my pc. I got no idea tho, about what i need to upgrade to make it work well kinda smooth. Lets say 25-30 stable fps.
What i got now:
Windows XP
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3500+ 2.21 GHz
2gb RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT

You only need to upgrade your CPU, maybe ram. for CPU try going for an athlon quad if you can't afford a phenom quad. for GTAIV, i highly recommend 4 gigs of ram at least. thats all u pretty much need to upgrade. unless ur cpu socket on ur mobo wont match your newer CPU, in which this case you might need to buy a new one, but i think all athlons and phenoms work in the same socket, including x4's.

btw, i hope ur xp is 64 bit.

i really suck at all these computer stuff and im deff not gonna chose it myself  

e: im thinking about athlon II x4 620. Its really cheap and seems good enough. Am i right?

it would help to know where ur buying from first of all. :p but i would really change ram as well as CPU, both work together and gtaiv needs 4 gigs at least.

e: i honestly dont know about that athlon 620. its good and all, but its am3 and im pretty sure u have am2/am2+. i never bothered with AMD sockets, so idk if that athlon II x4 620 will fit in ur am2 socket. i would suggest anything from the phenom II x4 line if possible, that is am2/am2+.

e2: check ur motherboard specs, if its AM2+, then that athlon II x4 620 WILL fit nicely, and i would suggest buying it. if ur motherboard is NOT am2+, but rather just AM2, then the athlon ii x4 620 WONT fit.

Well i want to spend up to 400zł for CPU = 125$. I have a total of 250$ but im not willing to spend it all. How much it costs to upgrade RAM?

So far i have 3 products im thinking bout:
athlon II x4 620
AMD Athlon II X4 630
Athlon II X2 250 (tho it just x2)

depends on the ram u get. should not cost more than $70/$60 to get 4 gigs tho.

u dont want to buy a dual core, since u already have one, and dual cores suck on gtaiv, sadly. u might wanna scratch that 250 x2 off your list.

I never said it replaces power. btw, gtaiv is a ram hog, hogs up 60% of ram of 4 gigs fyi.

Just buy:
-Windows 7
-~4GB RAM (i think 1066Hz is enough)
-AMD Athlon II X4 635 + some good cooler, eg. Scythe Mugen Rev.2 and then OC your proc.
