XP and Harddrive Problems..
« on: July 17, 2008, 09:44:46 AM »
I got my harddrive out of my old comp and put it in my new one, everything boots up fine and XP loads, but when I click to sign into an account it says this copy of XP isn't acivated. So I try to activate it, but of course i run into a problem. It wont connect to the internet cause most likely my drivers and shit arent working for it. And I CAN'T install drivers until I get into XP, so any ideas? >_>

VERY USEFUL INFORMATION, SOMEONE GIVE THIS FUCKING RETARD AN AWARD!

It seems I have to re-activate it again, although I never activated it before so, yeah whatever.
But I do need help with something else. For some reason the harddrive isnt wanting to show up on vista/ubuntu.

Did I do it right?

And do I need to like do something in BIOS?

Seems odd to me. But make sure that the cables are all the way in at the HDD. And also check your BIOS if there is something usefull information.

I got it, I had to plug in another data cord. Works like a charm now.

Same happened with me and my friend. The IDE cable snapped somewhere inside and I just brought one of ours and then it worked again.
