theres a bug in the l3 cache of the phenom 9500 and 9600 and barcelona server processors that can cause the computer to hang under certain circumstances. it's a tlb logic (dunno what that is) bug called erratum.
sooooo people dont want to buy any phenom processors and amd has stopped shipping barcelonas because of this.
hypathetically speaking, it's possible that the bug will never even come up over the phenom's entire life as a processor, but if consumers here the word bug they wont buy it. theres a bios update that disables the part of the processor with the bug in it, but it has a performance penalty from 10-30% (now being exaggerated to 40 by noob article writers)
theres also a windows workaround with no performance penalty.
dunno why i wanted to post this here, or if any of you will actually read it, but meh. it's 5 in the morning and ive nothing better to do.
EDIT: also wanted to add on that all the new versions of the processors (phenom 9700+ 9900+ etc) are based on a new structure without the bug, b3, instead of b2. this has to be better because 3 is higher than 2.
