Ok I found out that I could hold more than one HDD on my computer, now before I waste some cash on this I need to know, does the motherboard have to be "compatable" with it or some shit, and what would I need to hook the HD up to? Motherboard or something else?

And same question but different thing, I'm also thinking of buying either a second DVD drive or a floppy thing, either one but it's prolly gonna be the DVD, again though, would it need to work with the motherboard or does it just not matter?

As for the HDD, you could buy an external one which just plugs into the USB drive, but there are probably downsides of that. A couple of people I know have them and they work fine .

I have two of them but they're slow and once both of them crashed and I lost data. I'm just going for internal ones cause they're cheaper. Any idea on the second question?

Yea u should have a port for it, and all HDD's seem to work on most motherboards, Ive never had any trouble.

But it has pin settings, you have to set it to slave, it should say where that is on the HDD itself. Unless you want it to be your main, but if it doesent have an OS ur PC wont start up, so yea if you just want to throw it in for more memory go for it. Change the pinn settings to Slave and it should pick it up, as like Drive G: or somthing.

I dunno but I think dvd drives don't have any special needs, I think they all have the same connectors. But for a HD it's a different story. Cause theres IDE and S-ATA1,2. S-ATA 1 and 2 doesn't make a difference in cables, but IDE is totally different.

So first find out which one you have got.

Dont go external. Most likely your hard drive will crash within a few months. External drives really arent ment for constant usage unless they have a fan in them. And USB 2.0 isnt nearly as fast as SATA. If you do make the choice to go external MAKE SURE YOU GET A ENCLOSURE WITH A FAN!
