Brandon, why don't you post a link to a tut or write one yourself for overclocking if it aint too much to ask.. Then everybody can benefit from it.. I'll write it myself but I have no idea how to overclock..

Quad core or Core 2 duo?

its not that easy to do a tutorial on overclocking, its different for everybody...

Quad core would be my choice if there were enough programs that supported it.
id say get the E6550 and the 8800GTS 320MB

Dont cheap out on ram either, get fast ram. Ram speed is not equal to the amount of MB of ram you have

Whoa dude.. Nice specs.. Why didn't you get the 640MB version? And is your power supply enough to handle everything? BTW, a higher rating would have been better in case u wanna pop in an extra chip.. Also, is your RAM 2GB or is it 4GB? Either way, great work on the comp man.. With a lil overclocking, that'll last you ages..

Buy a Core2Duo E6600 , and overclock it to 3,2ghz . Quad core = Overkill  You dont need a quadcore for any game a core2duo is enough.

Get the 8800gts 320MB if you play on a resultion under 2000x something  If you wanna play on resoultions over 2000x something you should buy the 640MB version.

Quadcore isn't overkill ... well now it is but later we will need it !

Get an E6550, not the E6600. It has 1333 mhz fsb and the G0 stepping and it just owns at overclocking

dual cores are better than quad cores in gaming by the way.

For NOW dual core is better but wait until the games are supporting Quad core then it pwns every single Dualcore out there

and Your wrong about that E6550 thingie the point is that you had luck on that Cpu it was fried in the middle of the other cpu's soo you got a lucky clock cpu.... maybe if he got one he can overclock till 3 GHZ as max you never know ...

Well its your opinion for a Quad or Dual i got the Q6700 and clocked it to 3.75 GHZ and its stable and fucking pwnage

Most people adviced me to not get the 640 version because it is more expensive, and doesn't do much more for me. I don't have a 20'' screen, so I don't play games at extreme high res. The more MB's only help support high res games, the rest is just the same as the 320 version.

The ram is 2 gig, it isn't that expensive lately so I can allways upgrade it.. If needed.

Not true, experts say even for the long run, a Core 2 Duo is a better investment for gaming than a Quad Core. The quad cores aren't even "true" quad cores, they are just 2 dual cores smashed together that share the 8MB L2 Cache. They will be supported, but the performance increase wont be as great as a core 2 duo. Wait until the "real" quad cores come out, with 4 seperate dies for each core.

and very nice specs BoB

@boxXx: That was exactly what I was saying.. Maybe except fotr the overclocking part..

@Brandon6199:And that was what I was saying too.. The Quad Core has to be more refined for it to be better.. The only reason why they released it now was that they were scared about competition from the Athlon 4x4 series..

@BoB: Ohh.. I thought that you had a widescreen.. Anyway.. You'll have space for additional RAM should you need it..

All G0 stepping E6550's overclock the same. There is no luck of the draw. People have gotten it over 4 GHz on air. There hasnt been a single reported E6550 that couldnt overclock over 3 GHz. That's how good the G0 stepping is

here is my CPU-Z screen

As long as BoB's new Core 2 Duo has a G0 stepping and not a B3 stepping, he can EASILY reach 3-3.4 GHz.
