Is this compy worth getting?
« on: August 03, 2007, 08:49:31 PM »
#    2.6 GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 processor 5000+
Delivers fast 64-bit processing power for multi-tasking along with enhanced virus protection

#     3072 MB of PC2-5300 DDR2 memory
Offers high performance along with the option of expanding up to 8 GB

#     400 GB SATA hard disk drive, 7200 rpm
Provides a tremendous amount of space for your files, photos, music and videos

#     SuperMulti DVD burner with dual-layer capability
Plays and burns CDs and DVDs in the most popular formats with ease

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE with TurboCache including 128 MB of dedicated graphics memory

But if it's worth getting, I have one question:
Can I downgrade to Windows XP? If not then fuck that..

This isn't the exact comp im getting but it's close enough to it.

I'm a bit if-y about the processor.. The graphics card ain't all that great tbh.. A 7 or 8 series would be better.. But everything else seems to rock.. Especially the 3GB of RAM..

Yeah graphics card probably should be a 256 instead of 128 but what is this down grade to XP? Do you mean it has like XP Pro on it now? If so the answer would be no. You'd have to wipe it out and load XP home on it.

Probably Vista, or no?

Yeah you should swap the graphics card for either 256 or 512.

The changing from Vista to XP is easy, I guess. Just format the computer and install XP on it. But, before you do so, check if you need some drivers or so on, if they're not on a CD, which you get with the computer.

Good computer caracteristics Storm, almost everything is fine except the graphics card try to find a similar offer with such a 6-7 series or even the equivalent in ATI.

-Processor's great x2 AMD 64 5000+ x2 should pwn hard as the athlon 64 series has been majorly made for gamers.
-3GB of memory is enough for some time I guess and the possibility to extend to 8GB is great, most of the actual computers runs 1-2 GB of memory.
-Big hard drive but nothing special I guess, the good point is that this is a SATA .
-I don't see the need of a cd/dvd burner but oh well it could be usefull in rare occasions.
-CHANGE GRAPHIC CARD with such an old card you won't use at all your processor and memory .

I don't think there is any reason you can't downgrade as long as you have all the needed stuff for your XP version(cd,authentification code and knowing how to install it  )

Good buy, only two things to change the windows version and the graphic card

Thats what I'd do too.. Just make sure you have all the right drivers in a DVD before you reformat..

wtf is wrong with everyone ?

The pc is good but the GFXC ain't so get a new GFXC but don't look at the Mega bytes of ram were the "normal" computer user is looking at ....

When you get a GFXC and have a look at the Core spped and the memory speed, then have a look at the pipelines and vertex shaders.

Ofcourse 512mb or 256mb is better then 128mb but the memory is the thing you shouldn't care about ...

Because my parents has an dell with :

Pentium 4 2,7GHZ
1GB of geil ram
Geforce 6800 128mb BUT the ram is GDDR3

and you know i'm able to play Counter-strike source / Gta SA on highest i'm able to record at 20 fps with AA on in GTA vc and i can record 25 fps in SA at the max resolution that it supports and AA and go-on.

So stop complaining about the Mega Bytes cause thats the last thing you should look at ...

oh and btw the GFXC that is included will bottleneck your system like a motherfucker !

Yea Id say go for it, this is the laptop I just bought, its not the exact same, Mine has an Nvidia Geoforce Go 7700 256mb dedicated, but its basically the same. Everything runs great and smooth So if anyone is looking to buy a laptop for mobile stunting for under 1500 this would be my pick.

i have to agree with the others, you may need(or want) a better graphics card, not because of the onboard memory but you wont be future proofed so youll have to upgrade again fairly soon. but other than that, nice pick by the sound of it, only how much is it??
