It deletes EVERYTHING.  So yeah, you'll need to reinstall Windows and programs again.

Reformatting will delete everything including the old OS.. If you're really that stingy and not wanting to foot out for a new OS, then use Linux.. That's free.. Warning: It needs boot commands to install so learn them before reformatting..

yeh but you wont need torrent then as they supply virtual cd. A quick look in the "Windows [insert Distribution here]" clears things up: "you are not the legal owner of anything! You get the license for a time of 50 Years starting at buying date. Microsoft is still the owner of all Hard- and Software provided to install Windows [insert Distribution here]"

Or something like that. Atleast you dont own the cd etc. But you have to pay them the license etc.
Ph33r got a good point: get Linux (Fedora 7 recommended by me). Although i m not sure what he means by boot commands cause you can just burn a bootable disk and a Linux provided with an Easy Installer...

//Edit: Neo - check the EULA of MSN. It tells you that MS is allowed to check the packets (/ Conversations) and Warez or Porn is not allowed on the service...

Personally I would recommend Ubuntu.. Seems better.. And if I'm not very much mistaken, Ubuntu MIGHT need boot commands...
