Fox needs help!

Fox / FoxBot säger:
i was installing a new forceware from nvidia at around 19:00 (its 21:00) now
Fox / FoxBot säger:
well i cant say for sure if its been a real nvidia one, i got it off codeguru3d (trustable source), and i have seen tons of that version on google (i checked to make sure its not a fake)

though, it wasnt listed on nvidia.com - it wasnt even in the beta driver directory
Fox / FoxBot säger:
however: i installed it and the installation went fine
Fox / FoxBot säger:
at the end, it prompted me to reboot
Fox / FoxBot säger:
i just closed everything and rebooted
Fox / FoxBot säger:
now after rebooting, i get errors.

1. [German: Ordnungzahl] 24 was not found in ODCB32.dll (Window title:  winlogon.exe - ...)

2. Failure of User interface
The dll msgina.dll required for the logon wasnt loaded, please contact your system administrator or restore the file
Fox / FoxBot säger:
i went to the other pc - this one - (it has almost no graphics, and only keyboard support) and googled.
Fox / FoxBot säger:
i found some article in the microsoft support database.
Fox / FoxBot säger:
but the stupid cockheads at microsoft only give 2 advice:
Fox / FoxBot säger:
1. Fix your system
^ yes thats all
Fox / FoxBot säger:
2. Hit F8 while your PC is booting and select "Run with last working setup"
^ I tried that before and it just gives the same result as normal boot
Fox / FoxBot säger:
it also said the problem is caused by security update KB834283 (might be 832483) which doesnt have needed access to the temp dir
Fox / FoxBot säger:
what i tried now is to put in the windows cd and used recovery
Fox / FoxBot säger:
but that didnt work cause i need a floppy disk/drive - i dont have one
Fox / FoxBot säger:
so i rebooted and tried the manual command line support
Fox / FoxBot säger:
i can logon fine and navigate through most dirs
Fox / FoxBot säger:
i checked my WindowsUpdate.log but it has nothing in it at 19:00 so i think the ms database is WRONG! (now, that proofed my guess: you guys at ms suck..)
Fox / FoxBot säger:
ok then i checked system32, msgina.dll - exists (last changed 2004)
shlwapi.dll - "
odcb32.dll - "
winlogon.exe - "
Fox / FoxBot säger:
i also looked at boot.ini, win.ini, autorun.ini, autoexec.bat etc
Fox / FoxBot säger:
but i couldnt find ANYTHING
Fox / FoxBot säger:
however, when the error appears, i still have network access using this pc
Fox / FoxBot säger:
BUT i cant acces c$, x$ or d$ - "uploads" shared directory works fine, scanning files works and printing works
Fox / FoxBot säger:
the forceware / driver from nvidia was versoin 160.sumat i think. its been one which said ti supports the nVidia6800GS/XT - it might be faked..
Fox / FoxBot säger:
so please. post this on forums where someone might know the answer and call me asap
Fox / FoxBot säger:
i tried to plug the hdd to other pc's but i linked it to the mobo so it wont unlock

Please help the guy out, Im no technical genius, would anyone know whats happening?

(Using PSP for internet, xbox usb keyboard for typing)

ironicly i needed that cd a few days ago and burned it. BUT since my CD recorder has no drivers, all cd's i burn have only one file which is exactly 128 bytes: "#ERROR" rest is padding...

i cant burn it now anyways cause the pc with the burner is fucked, so either i have to wait till my brother comes back or my dad is able to boot our old pc in less than 4 hours - yes.. sometimes it boots for 4 hours.. ill try it anyways now

Well done, care to explain how you fixed it so if other people come across a similar problem they'll know what to do?

He explained to me on msn

Quote
(12:02 PM) Fox / FoxBot:   however - fix:
first, boot in knoppix or another tool so you have network access
(12:02 PM) Fox / FoxBot:   then rename system32 to something else
(12:02 PM) Fox / FoxBot:   reboot windows
(12:02 PM) Fox / FoxBot:   it will say: recovering
(12:02 PM) Fox / FoxBot:   when you reboot youll find a new system32 with only 500 files or sumfin
(12:03 PM) Fox / FoxBot:   (i had around 5000 before)
(12:03 PM) Fox / FoxBot:   ok now copy the system32 from another system and DONT replace files
(12:03 PM) Fox / FoxBot:   that will keep the files assigned to your hardware (created by winxp) but add additional dll's from SP2 (other machine needs same SP btw)
(12:04 PM) Fox / FoxBot:   ok, almost done..
(12:04 PM) Fox / FoxBot:   now just set a restore point using Restore Wizard (Homebrew
(12:04 PM) Fox / FoxBot:   after that, just reboot and youll see that windows almost boots again
(12:04 PM) Fox / FoxBot:   it will tell you: Finishing Security update: creating msgina.dll; winlogon.exe; ..
(12:04 PM) Fox / FoxBot:   and then it will fail, reboot
(12:05 PM) Fox / FoxBot:   just boot to UBCD again and recopy the winlogon.exe; msgina.dll and odcb32.dll from the other system again
(12:05 PM) Fox / FoxBot:   In the explorer the old files are shown with a normal size like 600KB - BUT when you want to replace it says Replace File **** Size 0KB with **** Size 600KB
(12:06 PM) Fox / FoxBot:   which means the files dont exist when the update comes together with driver updates
(12:06 PM) Fox / FoxBot:   and after reboot it should work

Cause nvidia links to that page on the developer portal

developer.nvidia.com

but it doesnt link to any special drivers, it only says: "Check there for drivers over FW 50.0 with debug shader support"
Thats the only bad thing i can find about nvidia, they suck at coding, have bad support for older cards and they dont say what to do exactly - they do ALOT of good stuff for developers anyway
