Bought a new harddrive!
« on: May 08, 2007, 01:09:51 PM »
Yeah, I bought a new harddrive, a Seagate Barracude 7200.10 250gb 3gb/s if you need specifics. The problem is tho, that I just noticed that my motherboard supports only up to 1,5gb/s speed, and as I said, the new one is 3,0gb/s. Will the new harddrive just settle in, just at the 1,5gb/s speed, or will it go nuts?

Well if I remember right, 3Gb/s is SATA II and 1,5Gb/s is SATA

I don't know if it will fit or not tho, I never tried anything like that

Oh and BTW, I got the same HDD as your new one

I THINK that it would revert back to SATA (1.5Gb) format but the only was to find is to try it out or ask a computer technician..
