ok it says on steam i need to update my
RADEON X300 128mb HyperMemory
, and its given me a link to do so. i dont really know a lot on memory cards and stuff like that so could you guys give me directions? heres the updates page steam gave me:

and i run on
Windows XP Service Pack 2
edit: im installing a Microsoft Framework thing atm, is that the right thing to do?

well i can use half life, but not half life 2. it stops loading at the first screen it has a read violation of somesort. ill get back with more details
edit: well i couldnt get any details because the screen scrambled, task manager couldnt open and the game wouldnt alt-tab. i dont think anything should go like that

You need to delete your old GFX driver and install a new and fresh one....
Go to
http://ati.com
and find a new version of your driver.

I had this problem with my 7800GS, delete all video drivers, update instalsheild if you can then download drivers again

WTF!!! on the site, theres no simple thing saying 'download driver update' theres just all this shit that has no relation to anything whatsoever!! READ MY POSTS PROPERLY.
