This is an editing focused collab. It has nothing to do with editing crews in general. Good day sir.

To me it seems we only get a couple of overedited videos with a very strange order of stunts.

I am in an editing crew and I don't overedit my videos:

Think of it like this:

Stunting as in content, is way too old now. Stunting alone nowadays in a video isn't enough for entertainment, think outside the box because you're only thinking as a stunter that views the video ONLY on this forum.

Heres a pretty good example, acting started by plays because the content was fresh and new, after that the main factor acting was used in was movies, which had pretty much simple editing and was all about the acting and the story. Now movies are all about visual effects because acting alone as the main content became old and boring to the majority of the audience, though that doesn't mean movies that are all about visual effects are good, but...

Combining good acting/story with good visual effects and editing gets you the perfect movie. Put it on that scale, combining good stunting with awesome editing gets you the perfect stunting video.

Just take a look at videos with very low editing and good stunts fading away in the horizon before you blablablabla about editing.


Now this is my take about over-editing, YOU MISUSE THE GOD DAMNED EXPRESSION... You can literally call every edited video in existence over-edited just because this is how you see it, its HIGHLY a matter of opinion AND taste. Maybe your brain is slow its not anyones issue

When I watch a video and look at the editing I don't think "he's in Beyond Tommorow", I think "this is great" or "this sucks" or something in between. In my view editing crews don't really achieve anything productive, but that doesn't really matter. When I was invited to join VisualProX by Theftman a couple of years ago it felt great that somebody had seen potential in me, so I accepted and I was very excited to join. But it wasn't long before I noticed there was barely any contact and almost no collaboration between us, it became apparent that it was more of a label than a crew, so I left shortly after I'd joined.

I think some people join editing crews for fun, and some people join to collaborate with like-minded people, but honestly I think most people join editing crews to be part of the brand. I haven't seen one good example of editing crews coming together to make a video in my life. The only thing I ever see come out of editing crews are videos like 'SKRILLEX' which are edited by multiple editors within the crew, but they're never any good. They're always just a bunch of overdone miniclips fragmented into one disjointed video where each editor is trying to outdo everyone else in the crew. But in reality none of this matters, because at the end of the day all we're doing is editing videos of ourselves playing Grand Theft Auto, it's just a game and some people lose sight of that.

IF its just a "game" we wouldn't have got this far, its the prefect sandbox for film making so that not just any game.. its more like a tool.

You even said you got contacted by studios after they watched your videos, and then you ended up on trips to BBC and such, if thats true then you've proven your own words wrong before even saying them.

Some people brag about it. Other people including me used the goal to join an editing crew as motivation to become a better editor.

I find it sad that it's come to that on this forum. The obvious reason to want to be a better editor is so you're a better editor, so you can make better videos and feel proud of the work you have done. The current active membership on this site seem to use all the activities associated with GTAS as a means to enlarge their ego rather than inherently enjoying what participation in them has to offer.

The old core values surrounding stunting (by which I mean making a video to be proud of and posting it hoping that others will enjoy it) have been long replaced by a forum-wide dick-measuring contest, whereby people take no pride in videos they put out (hence so many modders) unless is gains them some sort of title or award or crew section (e.g. that pathetic thread in community council recently) or any other arbitary fucking ego boost. Editing crews are a less significant symptom of this mindset but are still a glaring indictment of what I'm talking about.

Well it was a rant thread anyway so there's my two cents.

DISCLAIMER: Of course that's not how EVERYONE on this site acts but it is an attitude has undeniably become far more prevalent in recent years.

I find it sad that it's come to that on this forum. Older people can't accept the new ways of the so called "noobs" and imply everything they do is basically wrong.

There is nothing and really nothing wrong with finding motivation to become better in editing from the testing off your skills by auditioning to editing crews.

If you think editing crews are only for egos... then so what are stunting crews for? I really need to calm down atm because all you do is mislead my words into a position how I never wanted nor intended to come to.

If people like competition. Give them competition. If people don't want to join editing crews. Then let them stay solo. Where is the problem? Only people that care about are guys with a veteran status.

Even tho this goes off-topic:

Priviledged Member status got removed. (2500+ Posts I believe).

Veteran status still exists. And it were veterans who removed this one status but kept the "so important" veteran status. So don't tell the newcomers they need something for their big egos.






I think I should close this topic because everyone used it for their off-topic shit. As seen above. This topic was about the dedication to join an editing crew and not about editing crews in general.
