instituting warnings?

ok, I insulted beat about, oh, 5 days ago and he banned the shit outta me (I learned from Turtle Boy that it was a perma-ban forever, thanks to him for shifting it to 5 days). Now, back in the day, I would have be warned long before this, if my current attitude is really the reason I was banned (and if it wasn't just that beat is a little sensitive). and I had been warned, I might have stepped it down a fair bit.

Warnings next time? Come on, I know you can to it  and you might wanna have a talk about beat about how long to ban someone, but I'm not a mod so

Beat accidently left it on the default setting which is a perma-ban. I told Beat that he should change it from a perma-ban to something such as 5 days but I wasn't going to change it with out getting his side of it first. Turtle Boy then changed it to 5 days and then Beat posted that it was a mistake and changed it to 3 days.
