Saints Row 2 Blows
« on: November 30, 2009, 07:00:09 PM »
I really wanted to check out the Company of Heroes, so I decided to get the THQ pack today since it was on sale. Unfortunately, the pack came with Saints Row 2. My god is it terrible.

1. The graphics completely suck. While this wouldn't be a problem as graphics don't make a game, the fact that it runs slower with everything on high compared to GTAIV with a combo of high and medium settings and Mass Effect on high is highly disturbing.

2. The audio in the game is a complete joke. The person who managed the audio and the person who coded the audio engine both need to be shot.

3. Tons of glitches, glitches, glitches! Did I mention glitches?

4. On Windows 7, the game runs in some kind of fast forward mode where the game is sped up. To fix this issue you have to force the game speed to a slower rate through memory hacks. However, this causes the cut scene audio to desync.

5. The worst control setup ever.

My system setup:
Quote
Processor:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9450 @ 2.66GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.7GHz
Memory:
6144MB RAM

540 GB Total
Video Card:
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT
Monitor:
Vizio 22' HDTV10A
Sound Card:
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi
Speakers/Headphones:
Creative
Keyboard:
Mouse:
Mouse Surface:
Operating System:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_rtm.090713-1255)
Motherboard:

I'd go as far to say that they're all problems due to Windows 7. Saints Row 2 runs at a playable 19 frames on my piece of shit computer on low.

So yeah, don't buy an OS till the first service pack comes out. herp a derp

Any problems on Windows 7, you're chances of having the same problems on Vista is 99%. From what I hear though, people are having the same problems on Vista. I've still got Vista installed on another drive so I'll check it out on Vista, but my hopes are not high.

btw, If you really think it's Windows 7, why is it then that every game of mine runs better on Windows 7 than on XP or Vista? If it is a thing between Windows 7 and Saints Row, then it's a problem of shitty coding on Volition's part.

That's the PS3 though. They did a shitty job porting the thing from the 360 to the PC.

I remember the old arguements last time when I think I too said Saints Row was basically a crappy version of GTA, and the Saints Row supporters defended it somewhat. Now it's round two and I barely care :P

I think SA is better than SR2, personally. SA actually runs and they're pretty similar graphics wise.

Saints Row 1 for the 360 didn't seem half bad. I never really got into it though because I had other things to play. Anywho, I haven't checked it out on Vista yet. Been too busy bringing over my Steam games to a new HDD I got (750GB WD Caviar Black ftw) and playing Mirror's Edge (Steam $5 sale ftw).

Imo i just had lots of fun running around and drinking and doing drugs then driving a monster truck over a hobo.. then grabbing him and throwing him into a bon fire and watching him run around while everything was still trippy.
