Vegas doesn't open avi files
« on: September 25, 2008, 01:50:48 PM »
So I have a vegas problem. As the title says, my Vegas doesn't open avi files. It opens everything else, though. I've tried 8.0, 7.0 and 6.0. I'm currently stuck with 6.0 since my project file is made on it and I can't go onto any older version. I have the k-lite standard codec pack installed.

I recently reformatted my pc. I've reformatted the pc for more than 3 times and the avi's always opened up after that. Now it's different for some reason.

*huge pic, fuck this*

Hope I get a helping hand in this. I've looked around searching for some answers on other forums, though I haven't found an answer that helps.

LOL, FUCKING NOOB.

Okay, Vegas doesn't naturally open .avi files, but if you get VirtualDubMod, you can rerender clips to .avi that will be editable in vegas (no sound), but, the filesizes will be large and to maintain quality I suggest getting lagarith or huffyuv codecs.

3 Minutes Lagarith = 500MBs~

Fraps files are .avi and I've always been able to open them without doing anything to them. I've also had huffyuv codec. Vegas does open .avi. DCLXVI was rendered as .avi at first, then I re-rendered it to wmv. nub.
