PC problems?
« on: July 11, 2008, 11:11:46 AM »
Hey guys, I think there's something wrong with my PC. I'm a newbie with computers so don't laugh please.
Anyway a month ago my PC started to give out weird sounds lol, it was like a weak drilling sound. If I tap it slightly then it stops. Today i was recording some stuff in VC and whenever i recorded the FPS started to drop rapidly which never happened to me. First when I pressed F3 I didn't get to record the right angle so I pressed F1 and pressed F3, after that It was showing that Welcome to VC or something and it froze, crashed. I don't know, these problems might not be related but still they're problems.
Oh I forgot to mention, the socket to which the PC was connected had some problems, PC started to restart without stopping(somehow related?) and we had to find another one to connect it.
Would appreciate very much if someone helped me with this oh and once again I mention this, I'm a newbie with PCs so don't mock please.

Weird sounds? Had that before, and it was because of my power supply.

Anyway, you are less likely to find help here than on a dedicated forum for these kind of problems.

Could be the hard drive failing. Hard drives produce noise due to the moving parts in there, but it's usually not noticeable. The sound getting louder could mean it's failing. Of course it could just be a fan rattling and vibrating the case shell. Kinda hard to tell, those problems could be caused by any number of things.

Try to locate the source of the sound. If it's a fan, it's most likely not related to your other problems. If the noise is coming from the hard drive, then that's probably causing the other issues too.
