Author Topic: Airflow in my new case (Read 1628 times)

So yeah i orderd my remaining stuff for my second machine and i am wondering what i should do with the fans in my case here is a picture of the case with the airflow pointed out in arrows, blue is cold and red is hot.

Is this the right fan set-up or should i change it ?
btw the case is going to be an Antec three hundred, 2x120mm front, 1x120mm back, 1x120mm side, 1x140mm top.

Take off a side panel. I've had the side panel off of my case for years and it works great.

Looks fine, but by that drawing it looks like the side fan would clash with the psu, but I guess thats just the drawing. Might be worth switching that side fan round though so its sucking hot air from the gpu fan straight out, probably give the case a bit better circulation.

Well it's like 4 am will take a proper look at the case tomorrow but to be honest. With my Antec 900 and my Antec 1200 they both came with the fans pretty much pre-installed anyway. Only fans I had to put in were extras (on for a mount and one for the side).

yeah sorry the fan is on the same height as the GPU well i dont know what would be better to keep the side fan for the intake or outtake, the thing is there is a fan on the bottom in the front panel which is intake, if i have one more that is intake in the back it might fuck up the airflow, maybe its better like you said it, gets cold air in from the front goes to my gpu and takes it out at the gpu along with the hot air the gpu produces.

You should try it both ways and monitor the temperature. My old case had a fan on the side panel, and I tried it as an intake first, but using it as an outtake to remove hot air around the GPU was more effective. That depends a lot on the case though, so experiment with the fans a bit and use whatever way keeps it cooler.

I think you should take in cold air from the top where the cpu is, and blow out the hot air somewhere around the gpu. Since the gpu produces much more hot air than the cpu it's not that good that the hot air is going through the cpu.

That's just what I think, but I don't know much with pc's, so I'm just trying to help

Shouldn't the top case fan suck air in, and the other one blow it out? It also depends on how your CPU cooler is set to get the best airflow.

Take cool air below and blow hot air away from up. As we all know, hot air raises up. Anyway, I suggest to buy also fan filters, they really are worth of it.

Like gt7 says hot air raises up so the top and the fan on the back should be out take, and gt7 dust filters come with the case allready so no need to buy them
ill try and experiment a little with the fan like firefly said and see what happens, the pc should arive tommorow or the day after so ill post some tests then, thanks for the help.
