Will it work?
« on: February 17, 2008, 11:47:47 PM »
Ok, heres the deal.
I'm getting a new desktop, but before I can I need to know this :
Will a Modem+Router (2 in 1) work when its connected to the wall and not connected to a pc or anything else (just phone line) because i want my desktop to be out in the shed, while the modem+router is in my room.

this may help:

Thanks to anyone who replies!

you have to get a Wifi, dont you?

if not, you have to connect your modem and PC via telephone cable.

If i'm hearing you correct you want the PC to be wireless? If so all you need is a modem/router with wireless and put a wireless card into your pc. It'll only work if it's in range though.(It should work throughout your whole house though)

so the modem/router can work by itself? if so, thanks for your help, although chances of getting a new pc r slim, because my mums tooth fell out last nite and thats gonna need dental work, o well, bad luck

Yeah it should be able to work with only the power cord and stuff like that in.

Lol, nerd.

Oh and btw I really have high doubts on being able to get a network cable that converts to usb for your pc, I mean, what kind of noob would think of that?

Lol, it worked for us while we was moving. We had all the computers but one over and we was running internet off that while it was upstairs.(modem was downstairs)
