Can someone make a vehicle mod
« on: January 15, 2008, 06:23:23 AM »
I don't know anything about modelling but I figure it would not be too hard to achieve this.

Basically anyone who knows SA knows that any movement of the tray's on the packer and the dumper does not show up in a replay. Instead the tray is in its default position and can often make any stunt using a moved tray look very ugly and weird. I was wondering if someone would be willing to create to mods that show the dumper and packer with their trays fully extended out. This would be mainly for editing so that if someone sends me a replay with a dumper I can put in the mod for the capture process and the clip will look as it should in the final video.

If anyone is able to do this I would greatly appreciate it

im pretty sure thats thats the reps and not the dff's themselves, not 10% sure because of the whole multi dff thing SA's got going on but im pretty sure and if so your gona need to get one of the rep handlers

Thats a really good idea kr3m. In a similar manner, do ya reckon one would be able to do this to provide a solution to making hydra stunts look as they should in replays - by creating a model with the landing gear up rather than down?

i don't think it's possible to achieve this. basically the general rule of SA is that animated objects on vehicles don't work in replays, hence why the NRG doesn't have spinning wheels, and how suspension/hydraulics don't compress.

^ Exactly.  But there must be some kind of 'neutral' position that the objects take in the replays, and I think kr3m was asking whether that default model can be changed.  It'd still stay stationary in the replay, but in a different position to normal.

um.. o.o.. o..k... people just kinda ignored me on that one..

it probably wouldn't be stuntable or anything but you could get some mods which you could stick in for recording only, stunting would be considered modding.

Well yes, obviously you wouldn't want a packer model with the rear always at full height for stunting purposes, then you'd never be able to get on it  .

As to what you'd be changing, I was thinking along the same path as Venom, changing the default model of the vehicle, so it always appears like that (ie. a packer with the ramp always raised to full height).

VenomX: the default model can be changed, but that would most likely just make things worse than they already are. the default position would be set in the 'second' position, and when you move the ramp or whatever it will rotate further and just make it impossible to stunt with, not to mention making it really damn confusing

You wouldn't even need to do that though, it would be used soley for recording purposes.  For instance if you're trying to record a 'ramp-up' stunt, it'll look weird in the replay, because it would APPEAR to be down, but actually the cols would be up.  Switching in the other one would just make it look more natural, then it could be removed after filming.

Thanks for the interest, and sorry for the lack of clarity. It would be for filming only, a simple way to make up for the dodgy animations as VenomX said.

Again if someone decides to work on it, please keep me up to date
