my monitor's been doing this weird thing. It waves, kinda, with many lines going down. one of my friends said it was my monitor, and I should get a new one. Is he right? (well, I know I need a new one but lol)

When it does do that? All the time? Is the monitor new or old? When/Where you bought it?

Does it look like this?

If so , your GFX card is fucked. If not , then I don't know.

I used the got some horizontal purple waves kinda thingys, dunno how to explain. But that was because of an electro magnetic field, probably caused by my speakers. Maybe this is the same for you? For some reason it stopped though...

Could be a few things.. Do you keep your cell phone in front of the monitor? If you do, does the lines only happen when a call or a text message comes in? Happened like that for me.. Otherwise, it could be your vid card heating up or something else to do with your card.. Try hook it up to another monitor.. If it works, then it's your monitor, if not, it's your vid card.. Simple..

It could be the monitor. On my previous computer i had some blueish lines scanning the monitor, which was totally blue-masked after some minutes. I know it sounds weird.  Btw post screen.

print screen it and upload it so we can see if the wierd wavy lines are on the screenshot or not.

if they are, then its the video card, if they arent, then somethings wrong with your monitor...

or you could always try banging the monitor with your fist lol

I love how people think reinstalling windows will fix any problem ever.
