Hard drive disappeared?
« on: July 07, 2007, 08:25:20 AM »
Oh please guys, help me. I have a hard drive problem.

Let me explain, what happened:
I have 2 hard drives, C: and D:. I have all games, movies, music, MTA, on drive D:. Now I was playing MTA normally, without any problems or lag and enjoying my self. Then, the game stopped, and I got a blue screen, nothing else. Nothing written on it. I restarted my PC and found out, that my drive D: disappeared    I can't access any game, because it can't recognize the folder. Please help me guys, I have no idea, what the f**c is going on!!!

Thanks in advance.

This is new to me.. it could be possible that the drive isn't linked properly now, or in the worst case it's broken. Check it out.. I think this is the point. Tell here then.

Open the hard drive out and let some air get in between the discs

NO DON'T!

Hmm yeah check connections, try it in another computer maybe, check your power supply isn't failing to give enough power, worst case scenario you've lost a lot of data, back up man it's worth it.

- try to check for recently installed updates. make sure you dont use / do anything on the D: drive - it will mess up completly if you do.
- try to access it with a boot cd.
- do a scandsk on D:  DONT LET WINDOWS FIX ANY PROBLEMS

Allright, problem is solved. It's allright now.

What I did:
I just changed something in BIOS, I can't explain what, but I moved something.
(I'm in computer school, so I know how to work with BIOS)

It sounds kinda like your hard drive died.

First check if its showing up in bios and giving the right properties
ie NOT saying its a 0GB drive with 0RPM

check for loose connections ,

Try using it as a slave in a different PC
