Renewing my computer
« on: May 24, 2007, 03:24:23 PM »
A while ago, I posted a topic called "Sound Problems" and I received no help.

Now, what I was thinking is renewing my entire computer.
I need help to do so. What I wanna do is basically remove EVERYTHING off of my computer. I want to make it out-the-box new.
Does anyone know how to do this?

You're gonna have to reformat it.  Make sure you have your windows XP cd with the key, thats very important.  Then put all the files you want to keep onto an external harddrive (VC etc.). I'll just find you instructions on the reformat.  You got FAT32 or NTFS?

Right click on your C drive, and look at the File System.

Get your original Operating System disc that you received with your PC when you first bought it. Also make sure to back up anything you might regret deleting later on, such as drivers and stuff (trust me..  ) Keep a copy of your Key thats on your HD handy also. Just insert your OS disc and follow the on screen instructions. You can only use the Key that came with your PC 5 times so don't over use it. If you do then you'll need to call windows support through phone and have them activate it. If they ask you if the key your using is also on another computer just lie to them and say no (thats what I did ) and your in the clear.
