The run up is fine. You're not trying reach the next roof or something. The grind is like right next to you, you don't need that much height for it. This is possible, but no one has enough patience to do this. Or so I think.

the bsm quit you Velocity, so, you cant do a complete grind, you can rail, but no grind...
the grind need velocity, you cant with a BSM like that...

It's not written anywhere that the bsm has to go directly forwards. You can get enough velocity by turning on the last second, so that your bike doesn't stall once you get on the rail.
