Seriously, I had to post this. This tournament is so going off the tracks. This is a graphics competition, not about who has the best imagination.

The voters put too much into how well the sigs go with the theme, not about the look of them and the work behind them. For example, take my last battle (against firebug). How the hell could I win?! His sig is much better, there's no doubt about it. Maybe I caught the theme better, but that's not the point with this tournament, he did well with the theme too.

I'm not saying we should scrap the themes completely, we need to have them. Though I think they shouldn't mean as much as they do at this stage. Can't we start taking this tournament more for what it is, a graphics competition?

Maybe Fugitive could post some more open themes right now too, so they won't mean that much. At least we should try to change it somehow, like I'm trying with this thread.

This is my opinions, I'm really sorry if you don't agree. I think you should think about it though, thanks.

The way I see it, a good artist has to be creative, have a good imagination etc. Sticking to a theme is soemthing I think all good artists should be able to do. I do vote on how well they captured the theme, and how good the sig is. Then I weigh it out and vote.

I think that too, but it has been taken to the extreme in this tournament. Maybe we could get away from this problem, by choosing more open themes.

I agree with tou tackle. no offence mate but fb?'s entry was MUCH better than yours, and I know you know it too that's why I'm able too say it like this. Since both of you followed the theme then i left that and seeing as fb?'s was better I gave him my vote.

In other words I look at both sigs and give the best sig my vote. Only if I can't see a connection to the theme my vote is effected by how well theme is followed.

...dunno if you guys understand it's kinda hard to explain.

I actually voted for fb? only because his looked better, I didn't give it a second thought about how well the given theme is represented. If it comes down to choosing by whom ever brought the theme better, I'd have to go with Tackleberry but at that time the only thing I saw was that fb?'s looked so freshly drawn etc.

I agree with Tackleberry and I agree with Aries too.
Tac said that I should post some open themes, but I don't want to change anything now, it is too late IMO, it would be unfair for the ones who had lost.

Maybe its been said but I'm to lazy to read it all so here we go:

If this is a GFX tournament, and you wanna get smart with the themes...maybe you should embrace the fact that GFX'ing is more then just signatures.

The last tournament had everything, desktop battles, lil bits of recreation, the works. It actually tested the artists skill to embrace new styles and make them into their own work. I look at this GFX tournament as a joke, thats why I didnt enter in the first. If you are just going to stick to the bounds of a small signature you may as well give up now.

It's easy to make something small look complex, try making something large with detail, style and grace.

You want a GFX tournament? Try actually doing one right
