To find out the info about what your motherboard can't do and do check up what motherboard you have and show us the info on it, and by that I mean everything, check the companys website and check the info about it.

To make it easy just tell us the name of the motherboard and the companys name (the ones who did it).

Shit. =/
I don't trust myself to install a proccessor.

It's very very easy to install a processor, okay some is harder than others.

But mostly if you buy it in a box you get a guide. And mostly the processor comes with already applied cool-cream (or what's it called in english). Mostly you just need to put the processor in the socket the right way then put the fan above.

If you are very bad in montering a computer and are very unsure on how to do it then I have to suggsest you seek someone more skilled or some computer service guy.

But you can save money on doing it yourself.

Gird3r: There are also tons of development tools for windows, if you really need gcc or anything you could use cygwin on xp, games also work fine under linux using wine etc. Personally my favorite choice is winxp for programming and linux for games because windows is usually alot slower than linux on my hardware. (And windows makes working with forms alot easier)

Okay, will think of that the day I might start trying to learn programming

Computer Talk / Linux or Vista

At first, I said fuck Linux.

I would only use Linux if I would start coding etc. Linux is atm not the chooise for gamers.

Vista sucks cock, seriosly. I mean 2 gb to even be able to run it, give me a break.
Vista was: Hurried, programmed very badly, uses way to much ram to run, attempt to make more money for Microsoft, fail and the suckiest os ever.

Here is an fool proof chooise for a gamer that also programs.

Windows Xp and some form of Linux OS.

Vista and mac can go to hell.

Mac is only nice to do multimedia stuff, the rest it stinks for thanks to Mr omfg no one is allowed to make hardware for mac erection rules...

No virus for macs? Of course, because no one will bother making one, as mac is the most useless of all 3.

Actually, Mac got many security holes, but the Apple company shuts it's mouth because they don't want to ruin thier "Lol we got no virus for mac" policy.

I mean wtf, it's incredible that Apple could even allow windows to be booted on a mac.

So, I like Windows for gaming and Linux for hacking/programming.

If the viruses is annoying and you got proof very wierd things is happening with your computer I will say as everyone else (if you can't get rid of them): Format your HDD. If the viruses still show up there is another format method you can try, but I have never tried it myself.

1* The first form of formats, the normal form just causes your data to become inactive, it will dissapear when other data takes it place. So when you do a normal format for the first time all the space labeled "Free" is actually inactivated old data that cannot activate itself. But some viruses is prone to not get deactivated by a normal format.

2* The other form of format is done using special programs that you boot with a cd in the beginning of starting computer, they work by making a troughout delete, aka they delete the data for real so your hardware practically becomes like it was when you bought it. Aka it nukes your HDD and your files is gone forever erternity, not a single program in the world will be able to find any inactive files in the data because the HDD has practically become Fabritical reseted.

I'm not sure about the second format mode, but I think it was so it works.

Tip: Just because your virus scanner find a virus and labels it Trojan, dosen't mean it have to be dangerous.

It could just be a distraction, or just made to scare people.

Whenever I get a job I plan on turning my current computer into a home server. Which means I'll allow anyone on our network to access it and store shit. But I also wanna host servers on it, like samp, gunz, or maplestory. And also let people download through it. So would these specs be alright or would I have to upgrade it more?

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp.080413-2111)
Processor: AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3600+,  MMX,  3DNow (2 CPUs), ~1.9GHz
Memory: 958MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE
Graphics Memory: 256.0 MB

I'm planning on buying an 8800 for it. But i'll prolly remove that when I turn it into a server.
Also would I need more cooling in it? I only got two fans that i'm aware of in it right now. There might be a fan hidden under that big black thing thats over my CPU. >_>

Get a better processor to begin with, Around 3 Ghz on the processor, Be nice and tell what Socket your processor is on and I will try to find a processor for you.
(Recommending Intel processors but you can try AMD to if you don't want to spend to much money)
Graphic cards dosen't play such a big role in making servers as far as I know, So I think you will be good.
Get more Ram memory, try 2 gig ram to be sure (Also depends on what speeds your RAM-sockets can handle. Show in PCxxxx format).  But there is not only Computer specs that plays a role in making a server. You need to have secure connections and decent Broadband speed up/down.

I would suggsest you get a 100 Mbit Down/up Broadband. But it should be over 24 Mbit.

Overall.

I would like to see a more detailed list of your hardware.

I need to see what motherboard you use, what Processor socket it has. If it can use AMD or Intel processors.
I need to see what RAM-Memory your computer can use, also need to see what speeds the RAM-sockets can handle (aka PCxxxx format). As I said I need to get a more detalied list of your hardware.

About the fans, I recommend you have 3-4 fans.

Overall a more detailed list of wishes, budget, hardware and uses would be nice to see.

I will try to help you as good as I can

EDIT: If you have msn I can bring a dialog with you where I will try to Recommend hardware for your server.

Also remember one thing, what a guy says dosen't always have to be right. What I recommend is based on my experience with computers.
