A few days ago our provider noticed some strange outbound traffic coming from our box and shut it down so that I can review. They believe the traffic was part of a outbound denial of service attack.
I'm still analyzing, but at first glance I do not see anything that would indicate a compromise. Regardless, I still recommend that you change your password if you used it anywhere else - just to error on the side of caution. I will be forcing a password reset for everyone soon. You may notice some stuff missing and the site might seem a little slow. In light of a potential compromise, I've decided to wipe the VPS we were running on and start from scratch with updated versions. It will take a few days for me to properly configure everything -- so in the mean time I've set us up on a temporary host. I've also gone back to a clean install of the SMF forum software and applied only a handful of forum mods. Let me know if you run into any issues. I apologize for the delay in getting things back up. It's hard to juggle getting the site back up and taking care of a 4 month old. 3

Yeah sorry about that. RockstarNexus is getting absolutely hammered today because of the exclusive GTAV screenshot. I've enabled DDoS protection on both, hopefully it'll help.

In the past hour or so the site should have gotten a little bit faster. Anyone notice at all?

Thanks everyone! How's the performance so far? It should get even better in a few hours once CloudFlare Railgun is enabled.

Blog / Server Move« on: August 30, 2013, 10:55:30 PM »
Hey everyone,
Over the past few days you may have noticed a number of errors and performance issues. This was due to a host of ours moving us over to a "more powerful" server that was actually the opposite and caused more issues. The host then tried to tell us that it's our fault and decided to put limits on our account. Fed up, I've moved us over to another host. The cost is a few bucks more a month but it should be worth it in terms of performance since the server runs on SSDs and utilizes CloudFlare Railgun. The transition hasn't gone as smoothly as I would have liked it to but I've been working to get everything fixed. If you notice any issues with the site, let me know. Also I need everyone to report how fast things are loading. This will be me evaluate the host to see if it's worth the extra money. I know it's frustrating having the site go down like this and I apologize for it. I hate it too as it's more time taken away from my focus on College and enjoying what free time I have. Hopefully once this is all over everything will be rock solid. Cheers, AJ 8
Blog / Re: Steam Group Attacked« on: July 19, 2013, 06:53:35 PM »Wtf is wrong with this place lately... fuck's sake. It's my fault. I was working on a PHP script that would automatically post to the Steam group when there was news updates. While doing some testing, I had to disable Steam Guard and use a temporary password. Unfortunately I forgot to re-enable SG and change my password. As for who it was, I don't know. Every now and then I get emails where someone had attempted to reset my password so it could be the same person. Most of my accounts have been locked down to where I have to verify with a text pass-code but this temporary lapse in security bit me in the ass. 9
Blog / Steam Group Attacked« on: July 19, 2013, 06:28:12 PM »
Hey everyone,
Last night, a Steam account with administrator access to the GTAStunting Steam group suffered an attack, and as a result, a number of members were "kicked-out" of the group. If you had previously joined the group and find that you are no longer in it, you can simply rejoin either by searching for it via the Steam client or by clicking here. We have also contacted Steam Support to see if we can have the changes reversed. We're sorry for the inconvenience and have taken steps to ensure the group is secure. Cheers, AJ 10
Blog / Passwords Reset« on: April 16, 2013, 12:48:30 PM »
As Daffy posted earlier, we've become aware of an attack on GTAStunting accounts. While at this point we are not aware of any compromise of our own database, the database of another forum that a number of our members frequent has leaked out into the public. A malicious user has taken it upon himself to use passwords from this leak to gain access to a number of GTAStunting accounts that had the same password.
In an abundance of caution, we've decided to invalidate all GTAStunting passwords effective immediately. To gain access to your account, you will need to initiate a password reset. We ask that you use a password that is both strong and unique to GTAS to help not only protect your own GTAS account, but to also protect other members as well as other accounts at different services you may have. It's also never a bad idea to change your passwords for other accounts, especially Email, every now and then. If you're unsure how to create a good password, feel free to use the guide below. The comic was created by the fine folks at XKCD. Thanks everyone for your patience and understanding! 11
Web Ring / Re: End Of Youtube« on: April 02, 2013, 04:42:41 PM »
The best part is yesterday two people from YouTube read off the title and full descriptions of random videos for essentially 12 hours straight.
YouTube Announces The Nominees For Best Video (Day 1) (starts at 8 minutes) They didn't even pre-screen them. This one is a great example. [noembed]http://www.youtube.com/user/YouTube?v=HGeMGqVKD6A&t=1h32m50s[/noembed] (at 1 hour 32 minutes and 50 seconds) 13

Weird. The Anime group should have all the permissions of Regular Members so it should be showing the board. I've manually given the Anime group access to the section, can you check it now? Sorry about this!
