Buy me a good computer then I'll watch anime a bunch.
What you need is MPC-HC using LAV decoding. Proven to be the most efficient decoder there is for now. And a renderer that don't use a lot of resources. I suggest you follow this guide: http://haruhichan.com/wpblog/?p=205

Use VMR-9 renderer instead of madVR like the guide suggest if you don't have a good computer, so you don't have to bother with the madVR part. EVR Custom is also a good option.
The 10-bit playback is just something that comes along with the best decoder.

I highly recommend this over other players like VLC, WMP, KMplayer and PotPlayer.
If you are on OS X or Linux. Just use Mplayer2.

I picked up 11 series this season. My favorites so far are Space Brothers and Fate/Zero, also looking forward to Jormungand. Here is the PV for people who is interested: Jormungand | ヨルムンガンド - PV

Samurai X
School Days (My Favorite)
Nice boat.

Other than that, nothing special. Loved the Samurai X OVA, don't know if you are talking about the OVA or TV. Or both.

One thing I can't bring myself to comprehend is why you guys watch so much anime when there is such a vast number of japanese/chinese movies which are absolutely brilliant. Battle Royale for one, I believe you've all seen it?

It seems most followers of anime base their interest around asian culture in general, wouldn't it be more logical to watch some old classics instead of this new age anime crap? Not saying it's all bad, just pointing out that most of it is absolutely horrible, and if it had been western people wouldn't think it was so kawaii or whatever the fuck people say lol. Maybe the many weaboos have gotten under my skin, but it seems to me that 'anime' is something many cling onto to belong to something/somewhere and is used as an excuse to brand bad stuff as "art".

So are the majority of anime-fans fucked in the head or are there just the bad apples in the bunch taking things too far?

Nothing has been stopping me from watching Japanese/Chinese live action movies. This also goes for other "anime fans". Those who don't? I don't know, maybe its about priorities. You don't have time for everything. Especially when you have an anime backlog of 500 titles or more.

Enjoying Japanese exported media =/= obsessed with Japan. I don't give a shit about Japan as a country and its culture, really. Especially when anime titles I like don't sell, while those I hate sell really good. Japanese people have shit taste.

Anime have "classics" too. Ghost in the Shell, Galaxy Express 999, Boku no Pico, Gundam, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Akira etc.
Problem is that most casual anime fans don't explore the older stuff, this also goes for casual movie fans.

Not saying it's all bad, just pointing out that most of it is absolutely horrible
This is true.
But this also goes for live action movies and all other media, no big difference really.

So are the majority of anime-fans fucked in the head or are there just the bad apples in the bunch taking things too far?
Both of these are really accurate. You have the vocal majority who flaunt it. These people often like titles like Naruto. I would say Naruto is the anime equivalent of the Twilight movies within the movie industry, and Justin Bieber within the music Industry. It has a very huge and obnoxious fan base. How would you feel if Twilight became the main representative for all live action movies?

Many more advanced anime fans find it a good idea to hide or be quiet about their anime interests. So you wont get any input from these people about the medium/genre/art-form or whatever you want to call it.

Also, i would like to add that i think it is good that the obnoxious anime fans keep most people away from anime. I don't wont it to become more normal/casual. Just look at how the current gaming industry is today.

I feel like attention whoring today. This is my MAL profile http://myanimelist.net/profile/Auks

"Acquiring" Appleseed as I'm writing this, worth it?
Expect allot of CGI.
A friend of mine told me I shouldn't take it seriously
This guy sounds like a gentleman and a scholar of superior class and taste. Where do you know him from? Also i can  tell that i... i mean he would say that you should check out the other manga by Itou Junji. He wrote Gyo as a comedy, so his other works would be allot closer to the Horror genre than Gyo was. (And is actually good)
What's your favorite anime movie (except for the haruhi movie  :euro:) ?
Perfect Blue
:euro:
Jin-Roh
:euro:
Ghost in the Shell
:euro:
Mind Game
:euro:
Memories
:euro:
Are some of them :euro:. Also worth mentioning is the Kara no Kyoukai movies (7 of them) :euro:. And i fucking love End of Evangelion movies :euro:. And don't forget the Eve no Jikan movie that is originally an OVA :euro:.            :euro:

Have they translated Clannad VN?

Yeah, but it's 80 hours long. I can't see myself reading it in the near future...

80+ hours when combining all girls routes. You don't have to play all of them.

real life(ish) high school anime?
By real life(ish) do you mean realistic? There is no such thing.
high school anime?
There are endless amounts of it. But why would you want to watch something so generic?

Haha, I'm not sure should I take that as a compliment or as an insult. I have been watching a lot of Ergo Proxy lately, bloody superb. Really pulls you in as long as you survive the first 2-3 episodes which are, frankly, boring. If you haven't seen it yet, I strongly suggest you to check it out.
To make things clear. I was complimenting your great taste, not insulting it.

Rurouni Kenshin
12 Kokuki
Neon Genesis Evangellion
Vision of Escaflowne
Cowboy Bebop
Jungle wa itsumo Hare nochi Guu
Ergo Proxy

That's all I can think of now, there's more though.

Recommend me some anime, I'd appreciate!

Holy shit! That taste!
I am not sure about recommendations for you, but Gunbuster is often called the NGE's older sister (Same director). So that might be worth checking out. Also here is a package of useful recommendation charts: http://www.mediafire.com/?qzg1abktmlz3922
Also, Laputa is one of the better Ghibli movies i think.

I actually haven't seen any from the chart, however some of them look interesting (top left, mid/bottom right). Mind giving me the names of those?

Top left = Mushishi, mid right = Aoi Bungaku, bottom right = Kara no Kyoukai movies. But honestly i doubt you will like them, if you don't like really slow paced shows.

Finally, another cool person here. From what anime is your avatar/sig?

That would be from Arakawa Under the Bridge. Also, what have you seen on the 3x3 chart?
