Burn - Technical Damage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyiWFqONuqo#ws)

Burn and I proudly present Technical Damage. I'm thankful for ShadowSniper, Kacknase, SentitneS and Daffy for giving crucial insight on the editing. And Felix (CW) for his custom timecyc. We wish you enjoy this video and we're glad it's finally out after a shit load of work! :euro:

I think I'll start with the editing for once. Beat this is by far my most favourite edit by you, this is exactly how I would imagine a perfect editing to the song. This video also had the first intro (in SA) that was not complete bullshit in my eyes.
I don't really think I have to say anything about the stunts, because it's quite obvious that you have been one of the best SA stunters  for quite a long time now, but I really loved the opener, the sidep2b2antenna on the countryside, the doublebump in LV ( about fucking time somebody landed this) and the finisher.

I don't really know what to say except : Great fucking job by both of you, I want more. :euro:

same here. Staying up for it for sure and probably will end up staying awake considering how excited I was to see this release

e: 2:50 was the sickest in my opinion, along with the bump2prec near LS police department. most of these spots are insane and I wonder how you could find such great ideas. the editing was fucking fantastic and i cannot find anything to write more of since i'm exhausted.

Decent video!

I really liked the opener, the stunt at that railway bridge, the sprunk precision, the purple precision at LSPD.
Sadly Diaz lost the water tower precision and the second stunt is old by me in SASL 2013.
Amazing editing there Beat, I really enjoyed those fast paced scenes and great song choice.

Good job both of you! :ajaja:

Really liked most of the stunts, wasn't a big fan of the editing unfortunately. It didn't have the same feeling as your old solos that were edited by Herr-Dav and I thought the editing kinda ruined some of the stunts.

Lost 2 spots (sadly my only once yet again >.<). Stunting was way up there man. Nice variety and amazing effort. Great stuff. Editing was great but as pointed out before sometimes I coulden't really "follow" the stunting. You cut parts of the run-up or stunt which made it for a VC guy like me very hard to keep track of the stunt. Intro and overall editing still blew my mind though. The 'earthquake' effect in the intro was executed amazingly  :jajaja:

It's not about time I spent landing those stunts, It's about big airs stunts aren't technical (at least for me). Big air stunts don't require a lot of imagination/skill.

You're the best SA stunter ever and you proved again that no one can touch you. I feel bad for me and the other SA stunters lol. I won't point out my favorites because basically i loved every single stunt in this, they were fucking insane. Editing was kinda dissapointing to be honest because you didn't gave attention to some stunts that deserved more focus in my honest opinion. I barely could understand some of them and that's a bummer. I know it's a choice of style to create a certain atmosphere but i think that some stunts could've been shown in a better way. Apart from that, the intro was wonderful, one of the best i've seen in the past few years. I really liked the colors and the effect choices too.

Best solo of the year by far, you did it again Burnito. Good job mate.
Title: Re: Burn - Technical Damage
Post by: VaNilla on August 11, 2013, 07:28:54 AM
Awesome editing, very good stunts overall :D. I thought the editing was unique, and extremely well made. Like the others have said, it made a few of the stunts hard to understand, but for the most part it was well judged. The stunts were very good, but I didn't see anything that really blew my mind. On the other hand, I loved the Vrock double bump in LV, and the LV desert bridge combo. Also, I really liked the opening double wallride to sign precision, the double bump to sprunk, and the double bump to the LV water tower.

Honestly, I expected more from the stunts. There were a lot of "easy" ideas in here that didn't really blow me away, but the individual stand outs helped take it up a notch. The editing was crazy. You've made the best SA intro I've ever seen, and gave the stunts a really unique style, despite an overall lack of clarity for a few of the stunts. It's one of the most memorable edits I've ever seen, but in my opinion, the stunts didn't reach the heights of Meditation or Harmony. I really liked it, good job :D

+ Intro was interesting
+ Sweet combos
+ Sprunk can - glad it's been landed this way now

+- Songs
+- Cameras/Pan-Crop
+- Editing generally

- Counted 3 oldies at least
- Some stunts were barely visible (could only watch on YT though)
- Lost 3 spot ideas
- Nitro in Sandking & Quad (?)

All in all it felt a bit rushed and you definitely can do better man. Nonetheless it was yet again a solid video, including some nice ideas. I can't really name standouts as it all somewhat had an equal level and nothing made me keel over. I hoped for a longer video also. I don't really know what else to say, so I'll just give it a 9/10.

You can get nos on every vehicle, that's not modding, it's cheating, perfectly poss on ps2.

It is absolutly ok for me. Everyone does it so i see no problem here. Didnt get the point why someone feels a necessary to point out things like this ( nice detection i guess ).

lovely intro beat, the main part was also cool and i am a fan of these kind of videos, but i had feel here that it was a little over the line. I wasnt really able to see what actually happend somewhere and i had to watch it again. I see the work and time you put into it and in general i actually enjoyed it pretty much, so great job both of you guys.
Title: Re: Burn - Technical Damage
Post by: Rusch69 on August 11, 2013, 08:19:54 AM
It's cheating indeed, but how do you achieve hydraulics then too? I remember some Hotring thing in United for example where it both was used by Burn. Furthermore, if we allow all cheats available, then we'd even have some sort of anti-bail-off. I remember some guy making a topic about a cheat that did that, but the conclusion was that it better be not legit.

Actually all kind of cheats should be forbidden as they're only meant to make stunting easier (e.g. infinte health/armor & ghost town). These "supportive" cheats don't make impossible things possible, while using nitro and hydraulics upon natively not supporting vehicles does. The runup on the graveyard stunt with Quad for example gives the assumption that the vehicle doesn't reach the required speed without it, that'd make it impossible without cheating.

There are too much things we don't respect Rusch. The only thing that count to my eyes is nothing is modified, I can write I used nitro on all vehicles in the credits next time if needed

I was actually the one who came up with the no-fall thing, however it doesn't work quite as you imagine. You can still bail easily by driving backwards, hitting walls/bumps really hard & when you don't bail you don't really bump anything above 10 ft, it's just a bit more convenient + it's a bitch to use & your replays become extra long, MMM used the method for at least 1 of his stunts & we both came to a conclusion that it doesn't really count as a non-legit method because of the fact that you still don't get any more successful bumps as you would without it.

Also, talking about map mods, you can't play them on ps2, so whatever you do in them as long as it doesn't affect the handling or count as actual modding should be green lighted.

The only thing that count to my eyes is nothing is modified, I can write I used nitro on all vehicles in the credits next time if needed

The handling lines or something like that are surely still the same, but nitro and hydraulics change the way the vehicles act and give possibilities, which aren't there without cheating for those 2 "special abilities". The acceleration is forged a lot and leads to higher speeds on stunts with short runups where the vehicle usually doesn't reach it's max speed. Stuff like curb bumps with Hotring for example using hydraulics also might not be possible without cheating.

The community somewhat sadly got used to both being legit due to SAMP etc., whereas it actually shouldn't. I'm not accusing or punishing anyone for using it, but it does bring stuff down a lot for me. Then again it's just me and I'm very strict when it comes to stuff like that.

I'm taking your words about that other cheat Determined, but it most likely was just a plain example. Imagine people flying through tunnels with boats and shit like that. It's kinda stupid to pick out what cheats should be allowed and which shouldn't. Allowing them all leads to shit, whereas allowing none doesn't and wouldn't change a thing about stunting itself.

I can only say successful comeback. It's really inspiring what you do for things with these vehicles. Unfortunately, I lost a few ideas. But also gained new ones. Even the execution of your stunts are very smooth. Hats off. You are and will continue to remain my idol. I hope you'll still make a lot of videos.
Title: Re: Burn - Technical Damage
Post by: PtRvY on August 11, 2013, 09:34:45 AM
Having seen some of those stuff before I already knew this was going to be a killer, however my expectations were shattered and even over-met with this video. There were too many great stunts which I haven't seen, I was particularly loving the wallrides to grind, the double bumps, and the finisher. Only thing bringing it down were some oldies, but they were very few in number and it's understandable since you were away from stunting for so long. All in all, top job, and I think it's going to be the best solo this year.

As for you Beat, I have to say I admire how you chosen such a style focused on attention to detail, on so many levels... I bet that just five frames of this video have more complexion than many other full videos. And maybe even more so for sticking with it til' the end! I've seen it so many times, people (myself included) kick off a video with a lot of details, and then get bored and do the rest of the video differently. Not this one. For your dedication and utter ownage for editing, I applaud you once again. It's not my favourite editing by you (I still dig Backstage the most, by far), but it certainly is one of the technically best executed and detailed edits ever (hence the title is a bit misleading  ), if not the best. I kinda think of it as an Aureus that has been polished beyond recognition. Oh, almost forgot, the colour corrections were creaaaaaaaaam. If I were still editing I bet I would be kicking you around to have them.

9.5/10
Title: Re: Burn - Technical Damage

*snip*

It's all about having your own personal guidelines. As long as every form of modification/cheating is made clear to the viewer, it shouldn't matter what's used. Technically, almost every video is modded, it's just that we all have our own ideas of what is acceptable/unnaceptable. There's obvious things such as gravity mods, handling mods, SACC boosting, slowitdown and custom models/collisions which are obviously unacceptable to use while stunting. Then there's grey areas like ghosttown, infinite nitro, god mode and nitro in every car.

My personal line regarding nitro is that infinite nitro is modding, since it makes certain things possible that otherwise wouldn't be. I also don't like nitro on quads, since it's technically a bike, but I don't really mind if people use it. I also don't care about nitro in Sandking's, it's just not a big deal to me. Everyone has their line, but as long as these "grey areas" are put on the table, that's the only real solution to the "problem".

I am divided in my opinion on the editing as one part of me felt like it was really interupting me seeing the stunts clearly but the other one saw the uniqueness of it aswell as it reminded me moments of Burn in the DW crew back then.

Stunts were great, you did not include a lot of air but you've nontheless given us great stunts to watch with some incredible standouts and it seemed like it was a fun solo to make.

My watertower spot :(
Amazing video, definitely the best stunts released this year, at least for me. Can't really say any standouts because rest of the stunts were superb. Liked the stoppies, the wheelies, the grinds, the wallrides, the precisions, the combos, the mtb stunts, the nrg stunts. The editing was clever but I disliked it as it was too fast paced (oh again this word). I needed more time to understand these stunts as they are not so simple but I really couldn't because of the pace. Apart from this it was flawless for me, Burn showed again he is one of the best SA stunters ever and never runs out of ideas. Love you  :a-cheer:

I edited a 4 stunt clean clip with 4 stunts burn thought they needed this treatment, maybe you should start stating your opinion more lightly then you wouldn't see your comments getting deleted or you wouldn't get bashed for it (you can see there are alot of people in this topic that share your opinion and no one bashed them). Just saying... I didn't ask for anything to get deleted, someone probably seen your post and found it inappropriate so he deleted it.

Overall, burn and I agreed to make this an experimental video. Most of the time, experimental videos can be either very easy to appreciate or very hard to appreciate, sure there was a few fuck ups here and there (hence the clip) but to those who think the whole video was a disaster, well thats what happens when people experiment.. you can also see people loving the video so I wouldn't say it was a complete failure like Arnax and Art stated but more like a personal preference which I absolutely respect. The cleaner shortclip will be up in an hour or so.

I'd love to thank everyone for the very generous feedback, keep it coming!

The stunts are pretty well as the executions, some of those were just killers :o

One of the few videos I enjoyed watching these days. I think that's the best stuff I've seen from both of you recently.

I personally think that the editing was a bit too much. Of what I could see the stunting was sweet! :cc_detective:

Pretty dope stuff burn. I have always appreciated your understanding of the game and it's quite obvious skateboarding has a huge influence to your stunting. The stoppie variations did the most for me although it's hard to pick stand outs overall.

Regarding the presentation I have very split opinions and it feels a little over the top as a whole... at times the effects are just too hard for me. I can imagine some viewers might get a little lost if they are not entirely familiar with the spots. On the other hand, some moments really sticked, for example the showing of the grind inside the ship. The intro was just badass  :|

I wanted to watch some new videos and this one completely blew my mind. I basically liked everything, except a few moments in the editing.

This is why burn has been my favorite stunter for so many years. I cant believe i missed his next video, almost

Btw, do you remember your solo called Hardcore Feeling? There was really cool music in and i cant find out what it is since its been released. Cant find it on YT but i have it in my pc.
