Title: Closer
Post by: MikeyMouse on August 16, 2012, 12:37:43 PM
Hey guys, this video was created as to sort of redeem myself for a pretty poor show in next level academys crew video. The video uses Mugetsu's stunts from his third monster pack, so there's nothing new here, but the stunts are at a pretty high standard. Huge thanks has to go out to Determined and Mugetsu for helping me out along the way with the edit, the video has improved a lot from it's first version . I hope you enjoy it, and remember to watch in 720p for a better quality video

The CC turned out a bit more dull than I expected, but it is fitting overall. Good work with the syncing, not exactly what I imagined, but it's your own touch, so kudos. And I guess you changed your mind about the warm/grungy section & turned it completely around  Pretty good vid all in all, considering you\re quite new to the whole editing scene!  :cc_detective:

Nice, you're improved in editing, but work more at colors.  :ajaja:

Cheers, and the colours are gunna come with experience, Determined has given me a nice template to work on in which I can adapt it into anything I want, just need some practice.

Your editing style is fantastic, but that lags on the video...but nevermind, epic editing and stunts

Cheers guys  :euro: + damn I tried as hard as I could to eliminate all lag from this video, is it within some of the still shots?

He might be referring to the choppy angle movements, I reckon you should go to a store, get yourself an MX 518, tone down the sensitivity close to minimum & try smoothening out your angles  :cc_detective:

Ah, well at the moment I use the most basic mouse in world, I don't think it has a name, it is simply a mouse which I stole from my school at one point or another, and I do the camera angles with the mouse on my bed next to my laptop . When I get my proper computer i'll purchase a top quality mouse like the MX 518 and then the angles will be much smoother  :euro:

I had that issue a while back, the way I got around it was, I never actually moved my mouse during the reps. I just found a suitable, good looking angle & kept it at that. Added some pan/crop for movement afterwards & did my vids in that fashion & people really enjoyed them & didn't even mention the lack of movement. It's a good way to start out too, it let's you realize how to apply movement & how to accentuate the stunt without making it seem too messy, I recommend you do the same for the time being  :cc_detective:

Until November when I get my computer, i'll do just that, thanks

Great edit but too much flash, try using other effects or sync the bump and the cut.

I don't know was it YouTube's fault, but if it wasn't, you really gotta work on your sync man, all those mask fx in the beginning looked really badly timed :/ CC was also kinda dull in the sense it didn't really enhance any colors of the game, so work on that in the future as well. Also, try to get some kind of a "flow" or sense behind your effects, right now it seems either like "I don't know what to put here so let's just put a flash" or "let's make one cool transition just so it looks like I tried". Just listen to what the track tells you and act that way.

Despite some shortcomings I actually enjoyed the video, just work on some of the things I mentioned above and I'll probably enjoy it even more next time. Hope my advice will help you out!

Only the last 3 seconds are un-synched the rest is perfectly normal. It's just your PC. I am still not over your commentary of my semi-final in the ET :C You were the only one saying it was un-synched but it was perfectly normal!   ......  :P So yea apart from the last 3 seconds of the intro it's pretty synched.

If you say so :P

P.S. About your entry. The fact it looked out of sync for me didn't influence my vote (as it obviously could have always been the fault of the player involved), and I'm sorry for inconveniencing ya. I just always feel like mentioning it since sync is very important to me :) it's kinda anticlimactic when you see an awesome effect a second before or after it's supposed to appear.

It must be either Youtube's thought or your computer as rainbow said , i'm not saying the sync is perfect, but it's definately not out of time, if I have time i'll put up a download link so you can see if it's YouTube's fault. The CC is a work in progress, it always was during this project, I wish I tweaked it a little more before releasing the video, I know exactly what to do to make it less dull, i'll put that to use in the next video I do. I understand about the flow as well, I just need to learn how to use a few more advanced effects so that when I listen to a song, I can actually reflect my feelings into the video, because at the moment I have no idea how to do a certain number of things . Cheers for the feedback, appreciate it.
