Title: Workout music?
Post by: Noah on January 26, 2012, 11:15:15 AM
Recently started going for long runs several times a week, and I'm running out of music to play while running. Listening to Creedence just doesn't cut it when I need extra energy.

So far what I've been listening to is:
- Blue Stahli
- Flyleaf
- The Go Team
- Hadouken
- Hatebreed
- Airbourne/Motley Crue
- Random Drum & Bass remixes

Also some Lady Gaga and that crap music that slows your mind down enough to ignore the pains of running. Do not judge me.

When I'm running it's awesome to listen to The Glitch Mob, Slipknot, Three Days Grace, Skillet, Avenged Sevenfold, epic music (X-Ray dog etc.) or numetal

Lady Gaga ain't so bad :P

Honestly I enjoy listening to whatever when I jog, then again I'm not trying to push myself or anything. You could try these electronic albums, they should set the mood:
Daft Punk: Alive 2007
Deadmau5: Random Album Title
Slagsmålsklubben: Boss for Leader

SebastiAn - Ross Ross Ross (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fv6fvr8j3lE#)

Maybe you're not the biggest metalfan but I'd definitely say Meshuggah. Even though they have odd time-patterns there's always a symbal smashing in 4/4 which is great for running to a certain rhythm. Very sort of "angry" music.

When I was running it was all kinds of rocks, dating back from the 60s to even 2000s, some Israeli rock and the energy booster which was The Prodigy. I know it sounds like a lame excuse but now it's too dam cold to run. I do what I can in-doors tho which is mainly push-ups and sit-ups.

Oh cheers guys, didn't expect this many replies. Don't have time to download anything now though, my dog is getting horribly impatient, but I'll check it out tomorrow.  :)

Wait guys , so you are just running ? No weight lifting in gym ?

I have enough muscle, all I need now is to lose some fat around my stomach and I'll have a pretty sweet sixpack. It's there, but not really visible unless I flex, so that's my problem.

Nice list. My favorite band goregrind band is probably Last Days of Humanity and vaginal penetration of an amelus with a musty carrot.  :euro: I listen to Inquisition and some early black metal bands ( Burzum, emperor, celtic frost ). One of my favorite songs are Inquisition - Desolate Funeral Chant (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CN-K27yiVrk#) and Burzum - Dunkelheit (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luFCBdS5PAs#)

^ Oh dear  :euro: I know you can't judge tastes and you should respect anyone's but how in hell ("yeah 666 yarr devil atheist mickey mouse") can you listen to that ? Even the names are awful "post-abortion slut fuck" and that cesspool of vermin's cover featuring pigs gang banging a girl.

Mentally fucked up.

Anyway, I'd suggest you some powerful sung song to boost your brain such as jazz classics (Sinatra, Parker, Fitzgerald, Armstrong, Bechet ...) , 70s/hippies (Joplin, Jefferson Airplane ...), rock that touches you or wakes the revolutionary dude anyone has inside. I myself get this feeling by listening to Wu Lyf.

I know electro, dubstep, drum and bass seems to fit but trust me, they'll boost you for 5 mins. You're always tempted to follow the pace, and your brain does it even if you try to slow down, and you'll end up shortening your running session

+ Radio shows either live, or podcasted. That's a good way to discover new interesting subjects, the quality of the debate is way above anything you can find on television and best way to forget you're running by focusing on the talk :)

Dont really like the genre but i like some songs. I'll stick to black metal. Most black metal songs are so fucking emotional i cant even tell, its not all about: yey lets kill christians and rape the pope.  :euro:

Good stuff from Cocaine, Flow, Veno and Vegas.. We should go for a run sometime guys  :D
I've discovered through this topic I seem to take a liking to electronic and screamo music when I'm working out, wouldn't have found that out if it wasn't for you folks, cheers!

Also, i forgot ^^ Noah - Dont forget, if you want to drop some weight, then you should eat clean (Vegetables, Fruits, Milk, Meat) No candies, alchohol etc.
Yeah, I eat alot of vegetables seeing as I'm a vegetarian so my diet is pretty good. Funny you should mention alcohol, I drank like five gallons last night lol, but that's no issue with all the fancy new music I have on my iPhone now hehe.

Heading out to kill some fat, thanks again for the lovely music everyone.  :)

wtf with all the glitch mob posts, i also started listening to them a month ago or so. But anyway I often listen to MC Xander lately when I'm working out, cuz he's the man and DubFX. I like listen to some brostep like skrillex, modestep or butch clancy, tho the music will be always a personal taste choice, I'm not suggesting anything. Listen to whatever the heck you like.

Well i only can say this; how are such horrible bands made famous? on the outside, theres only rocks and dirt, sure some are shiny, but there worthless and the same as the rest of the rocks on the outside. digger much deeper into things unseen, and you might find a diamond. as said/posted there are also: non rape the pope or kill the christians and theres the new generation of black metal. the most people who are not into metal think about "metal people"; THEY AR SATANIC PEOPLE WATZA FUK THEY PRRASSE SATUN AND ZE GOAT ZEY PELEVE IN STATATATNAZ  FUCK HUMANITY!.... no just no....

Well, since no one's posting generic work out/training montage songs, let me fill that gap for ya'

Paul Stanley - Live To Win (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QdQS1QhQA0#ws)

Hammerfall - Last Man Standing (Extended Version) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Mj6GRrYmgI#ws)

Manowar - Warriors of the World HD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJ0sW7KOFhU#ws)

Soil - Pride (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2nd82xgrB0#)

Soil, in general, is pretty good for any kind of active activities (out of words, sorry), I love listening to it while skateboarding, it pumps me up real good.

E: I seem to have forgotten about Saliva & P.O.D  :hmm: Oh well, you probably know them yourself, 'cause, who doesn't, really? Also, Dolly Parton - 9 to 5  ;D
