I would say its great but not for stunters.
YouTube version is blurry and LQ, I'd suggest the 1080p download for the sharpest picture so you can truly enjoy the video, and I'd recommend turning up the volume as much as you're comfortable with.

It's been a great experience, I'd love to thank Barney and everyone else who inspired me during the production time which is by far the longest I've ever had, starting from 1st September and done on 24th December. I hope you enjoy.

Unedited version of the video made by Daksad.

ok

---

As a visual experience this video excels at every front. You made .sure that every single effect, every single angle and every single cinematic scene would match to the soundtrack and you did a good job at keeping the video thoroughly entertaining through 'n' through.

As a stunting video I have to say that I struggled while watching. For the above awesomenesses you did sacrifice the overall comprehensibility of the stunts, and while I was able to understand what was going on, the cameras were so vague and rapidly changing that it was hard to grasp the magnitude of the stunts i.e. just how big that gap was, and so on.

The stunts did seem pretty awesome so the video was enjoyable on that front too though.

Anyways, as I probably won't remember this as a stunting video but as a "cinematic experience", I doubt that I will care about the criticism I've given above. You deserve a solid 9.5/10 for this.

Thanks a lot for the edit sani, I know you put a lot of work into this and the outcome is amazing. The soundtrack was decent and I enjoyed every bit of the vid!

I know this is not based on the stunts and I hope this won't be too much of a problem for anyone.

downloading.

That was really intense, I just love Dak's grinds in IV, they're just something different  :ajaja: Stunting-wise I don't really know anything about IV so can't tell, but I enjoyed watching them  :ajaja:
Editing was the main focus and I have to say that it was really good. Sometimes maybe chaotic but otherwise it was really neat to watch. Great job both of you.

I have no idea where was Slayer in this but.. Well done once again.  :ajaja:

The editing was ok, not suitable for a stunting video though. I couldn't see most of the stunts properly thanks to the angles.

Epic stunts Dak, and the cinematic editing was nicely done Beat but as you say yourself, it doesn't do the stunts much justice :P. I think you should release your version too Dak.

Awesome stunts Dak ! Solo IV of year !!
Editing was really innovative, really beautiful, the only thing embarrassing in the edit, the stunts are not very visible.
But the video are epic !

I'm sorry but this sucked. Daksad is one of my favorite stunters and I really wanted to see a good GTA IV vid but I was very dissapointed. From what I could tell, the stunts were really great but I can't comment more on them because I didn't understand shit from what was goind on. Beat stop being a Michael Bay wannabe, at least while you are editing stunting videos. Editing should make stunts look better not the other way around. This is quite obvious thing I think but it seems that someone just doesn't understand it.

Okay, this was just not what it was supposed to be. I really hoped this would work out but the cinematics just really ruined the stunts. Half of the time I couldn't even remember from what bump Daksad landed a particular roof. I understand you it took you great time to make all this work together but it didn't work out. I'm sure though that a non-stunter can enjoy this video.

Well....

Beat good job, it was awesome edit, really good cc and effects and so on, but this edit doesnt fit to a stunt video.
I didnt see the stunts clearly, it was more an editing vid than a stunt vid.
I remember when you said me that you do only editing focused videos, but for example Aureus was awesome, i can see the stunts too. This video reminded me your video "LAMBORGHINI REVENTON".
No offense, great job, everything was great, the athmosphere was really awesome.

I cannot rate the video stunting-wise, sorry.

Cool..stunts? Sorry, I could barely notice them because every time I was trying to see what Florian bumped, it got cut and he was on the roof already. Nice effects and synching but really dude, it was really fucking ANNOYING to watch. It's like you're watching a movie, and just when it's about to get exciting someone just skips to the next scene.

Title: Re: SHELLSHOCKED
Post by: RedX on December 25, 2011, 03:53:33 PM
Editing should make stunts look better not the other way around. This is quite obvious thing I think but it seems that someone just doesn't understand it.

Should? That's just your point of view, man. Beat wrote in the description of his video:
"A cinematic stunting experience."
And that's what this is. The focus was on cool angles during massive airs, grinds and backflips and stuff, instead of the usual focus on nailing a natural bump to grind, or nailing a p2b2roof, and the editing being a tool for making the stunts look as impressive as possible. In this video it was the opposite, just like you said: the stunts, by looking cool, complimented the editing. Who are you to say what's right and wrong? Let people express their own style for pete's sake.

I enjoyed this video. Even though I didn't see everything that was going on, I tried to detach myself from the role of being a stunter, and simply appreciate the "cinematic experience".

That said, I'd sure love to see the stunts in a conventional edit, because a lot of them seemed really impressive, something the editing did not bring out.

Edit: Oh and one more thing. I think that using conventional gta "stunts" was a bad idea. You should have asked the stunters to focus on performing more realistic and good looking stunts. Basic grinds, ramp double backflips, drifting, flying through gaps... that sorta stuff. I think it would fit in way better than those; let's face it; weird crash-into-an-edge-and-suddenly-you-can-fly-200ft-in-the-air type of things. If you ever decide to make a vid like this again, I hope you'll at least consider these words.

Now, that was some kick as video filled with kick ass cinematic, gotta admit that some stunts where hard to see, only a few of them, But as far as the editing goes which obviously Beat worked a shit load of time on, it was great in my eyes, the Sound track or tracks and the mixing was flawless, i almost felt like i was watching a actually movie, good job on this one guys
Title: Re: SHELLSHOCKED

I loved this Beat, the editing was just incredible (the intro was especially good, flawless)! I also liked how you flashed my name running up next to Daksad, damn did we have some fails on that stunt . I have to agree with the rest that the stunts weren't clear, I think IV stunters can understand what's going on but anyone else would have a tough time understanding most of the stunts in the video. I also didn't like that you didn't mention which stunt was Slayer's (that sick bump to crane).

I don't care about any of that though, I'm taking this for what it's meant to be. It's meant to be a cinematic experience, and I LOVED it :D. Angles weren't perfect even for cinematic videos but for a stunt video you'd be hard pressed to do any better than Beat has here. The stunts themselves were mostly good, some were great, I knew they'd be good so great job Daksad! The real star of the show for me was the intro though, that was absolutely flawless. If you want to be truly great you've got to take risks, Beat's done that and it's up to you whether it payed off. It did for me :)

Well, that was my opinion. Maybe I got bit too much angry and that is why my post seemed like I was forcing my opinion but I wasn't. I just don't get what is the point of editing a stunt video this way if it's impossible to see the stunts. Thatswhy I compared him to Michael Bay. I enjoyed both versions in their own way, I will say that in BeaT's version I missed some aspects of 'a stunting vid' but I guess it was meant to be a 'cinematic experience'.
I think I may have enjoyed Dak's version more because I prefer stunt vids where I can have a clear view on the stunts.

The stunts are great, and I really liked Nick's bump to crane guest stunt.

Speechless, but still I'm gonna make a comment!
First of all, you did something no one has done before, and you couldn't do it better! That was really, really intense.
The cam angles were the best, and all the effort you putted into this speaks for itself. What makes you even more great is that you worked every detail of the video, and fucking propz for that! (you even add your own sound fx, so you could work more on the editing!!!) There were a few other details that made me say: "Now seriously, Beat is the negro :ajaja:"

Jokes apart and final statement:

Enjoyed each version in it's own way, Beat's one was impressive and as a cinema lover I enjoyed having sweet camera angles for instance. That was different, and that's why it generates so much passion but I can say I've been impressed a lot by the amount of work and efforts put in the making which is rare on amateur productions !

As for Dak's one, some bons gros stunts de porcs mon gars haha  :euro:

Damn GTA 4 looks badass.

A solid production? Definitely some great cinematic moments, and I'm guessing some really nice stunts. I really liked the landing on the horses. Alot of nice ideas executed well working in tandem with the music and has given me a few seeds for some new editing ideas. Lots of cuts, but well placed. and when they well placed, it doesn't take me out of the immersion/ make me go ahh my fuckin eyes are bleeding. For me I think that takes skill.

Initially I didn't feel that it was cohesive but interesting. And trying to tie in "Shell Shocked" only diluted my thoughts more. Was this a man trying to deal with Post traumatic stress disorder by putting it all on the line with stunts?  :hmm:

Then I viewed it kind of like a Motorcycle product showcase video showing vignettes of different places the "bikes" could take you...promotions for PCJ series  :P. Like the guy with the 4 bikes...was like umm okay, but within this other context it was.....the "product goods" shot lol. Choose your  ride.

Anyways, I can tell it was alot of effort and care into it so kudos on that.  I can always tell you're trying to up your own production quality so respect on that front.

Post by: Beat on December 26, 2011, 01:59:54 PM
The meaning of the video is very dynamic so its left for you to choose what it means, and its connected together. One thing thats certain is that the content is viewed through a platform called the CINEMATIC-i THEATER 1.0, and its "signature" or "unique look" is the content being streamed through those spinning diamond shapes. Its not a perfect platform so it happen to glitch so thats there too.

I'm very glad someone tried to make something out of whats happening besides the stunts, because there is something that you can figure out eventually :P

And just for the record there will be CINEMATIC-i THEATER 2.0 because its actually not restricted to SHELLSHOCKED, but more like something I'm planning to improve. I'm taking whats good about 1.0 and improving it in 2.0, it's fictionally a platform, but in reality its an idea that gets improved over time.

If anyone talked to me during the production of this video then I promised to release a shit-ton of deleted content after the main release.

So now I think its time that I show everyone the deleted intro.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTNQZvxU6YY
It got deleted because it makes absolutely no sense as you can see., also the tracks were old and the overall editing wasn't what I really planned to do.

cant see the stunts :( but as it was not for the stunts i enjoyed it a lot... had a good movie feeling

but the stunts should see little better but great job on this one!

6/10 as a stunt vid
9.5/10 as a editing project

The editing was ok, not suitable for a stunting video though. I couldn't see most of the stunts properly thanks to the angles.
:ajaja:
On the upside the editing was enjoyable and i really liked the soundtrack.
Stuntwise (from the ones i can make out) they are awesome.

That was a really great. You promised something different and here it is , you did it. As a cinematic movie it looked really professional and enjoyable. As a stunting video not so much but i understood the essence of this video and i enjoyed it. Soundtrack was amazing too , your taste is fantastic.

About the stunts , they were really good Dak. The grinds were my favorites and they surprised me alot... I think they are the best i've ever saw on IV.

Great to see a IV stunt by ShadowSniper too. He promise to release his videos and never do , so it's great to see a guest stunt by him here and there sometimes.

Shadowsniper was trying the stunt with Dak on MP but it wasn't him who landed it in this vid.

Hmm there was Shadownsiper written in the video so i thought it was him. Damn , now i'll have to wait years to see a stunt by him.

This shows how fucking dumb some people on here can be. This video was amazing, and it was never meant to be a common stunting video and if some of you payed some attention you might have realized that.

Also for anyone hating on what Beat is doing, at least he is trying new stuff and brings fresh content, all I see you do is whine and bitch about it while not contributing anything yourself. So here's my advice what I would do in a situation like that: shut the fuck up.

Now as for the video, the editing was stunning. Absolute quality right there. I doubt I have ever seen anything like this or that anyone else will ever recreate something like this. The whole flow to it feels so natural and you picked some amazing shots to create that feeling. All the effects were in the right place at the right time and it just shows how much of a perfectionist you are. I really like what you are doing here on GTAS, it makes it way more interesting to visit and I hope you won't let all the hate drag you down. You deserve every credit you have coming at you.

The stunts (for which I also watched Dak's version obviously) were really nice as well. Though I hoped to see some more technical stuff as well I still think this was really good. Lots of big ass bumps of which I believe are some of the biggest I have seen so far myself.

those stunts are just CRAAZYYYYYY!!!!!  :O
but did you used nitrous from the trainer or the nitrous in races??? coz the nitrous from the trainer is pretty cheap coz it makes you go faster then the normal speed... that stunt at 2:38 doesnt looks possible coz the vader isnt a so fast bike and on the clip it looks like your going extremly fast
anyway, im just wondering!  :P

Thanks for your comment!

Slayer had the nitro enabled in his trainer which makes the blue exhaust effect but he didn't use it (or at least that's what I understood, he could probably explain it better). The vader and a few other bikes can get higher speeds in a wheelie, that's the reason he's going so fast.

If dinosaurs were to come back to life in this day and age, they'd have no idea what they were looking at.
I felt slightly the same way, is this a stunt video or a trailer for a stunt video? I didn't see one full stunt without a weird camera angle.
Cinematic wise this video kicked ass though.
Maybe take a step away from the techno-esque music and try something a little more simpler. It might make the watching experience a little easier.

Hey math22, yeh nitro was enabled on the trainer so it shows in the replay even though I didn't use it, plus it's impossible to use nitro in a wheelie so I couldn't have use it :P. Oh and btw the Vader is a good bike actually, it' great for staying in a wheelie so you can get more speed. Example: normal top speed is 179 - 185km/h while dipping, but I've managed to get 230km/h on a long straight runnup :euro: (it also helps if the road has small little dips and humps because a flat road doesn't work).
