Title: Blast From The Past: Overwatch
Post by: m3rrix on December 16, 2010, 03:47:03 PM
This week's blast from the past was selected and written by Ghost (http://www.gtastunting.net/index.php?action=profile;u=1873).

XSA's Overwatch (http://www.gtastunting.net/index.php?topic=10540), released towards the end of the 'golden years' of SA stunting, is what I believe to be the pinnacle of a SA video. It was edited by kr3mlin and featured stunts by Buzzsaw, Deathcobra, Juan, kr3mlin, Liviu and Omni. It is a great video but one that the crew struggled to surpass (although they did come close with Unbroken and The Watched; and I guess As One and AOA are on the same level but they don't count :P).

The sense of a calm before the storm in the intro (Neo's narration) neatly sets up this epic video. The editing captures the atmosphere of the song (Pendulum’s Slam, which is probably one of the best ever used in a stunt video) perfectly. The camera angles were brilliant – showing enough of the stunt not to be confusing, but still leaving the viewer in anticipation of where the stunter will land. Kr3mlin really knew where to cut-in and where to cut-out.

Notable stunts include: Juan's p2b in the sewers, DC's car packerbumps, Kremlin's BMX wallclimbs and Liviu's taxi stunts (note how epic non-rollboosted taxi stunts look). Not only were the stunts epic, they were varied: we had planes, cars, motorbikes, bikes, boats, and even a grenade boost.

FURTHER VIEWING:

! Private video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRUahJWTwRE#)

"Amazing, no other SA video is as good as this....this tops my list." - Nitzkit
"A great vid which goes to the folder with the best SA vids" - Tackleberry
"Anyone who calls themselves a stunter should have this vid on their HD." - Juan

Truly awesome video, although I do think Unbroken and The Watched are slightly better.

I'm proud to have been in "XSA", even if the XSA I was in was far from this one.

Great video, I enjoyed a lot SA back then there was a lot of diversity in stunt videos, not only in this one but many methods have been forgotten through years  :euro:

Also wanted to point out that this Blast is a top idea.

The intro is really cool, I love how it's overly dramatic  . Older SA videos are defiantly more appealing to me then newer ones.

I often think of Nitzkit as the stunter who influenced me most, as he's the sole reason I started stunting in Vice City, but the truth which I often forget, is that I stunted SA for well a year on the PS2 before that, due to some of Buzzsaw's videos which I found at GTAF (Adrenaline is the first one I ever saw). So if it wasn't for him I probably never would have started stunting at all... Thanks for sharing this, those guys are legends in the world of stunting.

This is a masterpiece, as for the stunts, the editing, song and the feeling... it has all the ingredients to be a perfect video and it truly is a perfect video.. (poetry at it's best)

But it's true... XSA was a crew that influenced SA stunting like 90%  :ajaja: XSA has better videos of course but this still is from the beginning of 2006 or something so..  :ajaja:

XSA and TMS has probably been my biggest inspirations in getting into stunting, around 05'-08' they were considered those who will always provide the best videos, they are the pioneers on the San Andreas scene.
A great vid btw.

this video shows just how annoying Kr3mlin was; he could do all this awesome PSB's because his SA install fucked up and the packer never moved (that's what he said anyway) and everyone else had to reset it up all the time.

still a great video but you know  :P
