Title: Keyboard Set-up
Post by: Trialz on August 07, 2010, 01:24:23 PM
I cant make use of the tiny gamepad I use... Its a piece of junk! Logitech is just a horrible company imo. I just used it because I was scared of using a keyboard. Then,  after stupid stuff happening like being transported to location I dont wanna go, my radio going to different channels. and nitrous going on without me wanting to, I have decided to convert myself into keyboard stunting. It'll be easier to do Cabbie Boosting, and precise turning, and ofcourse, not getting annoyed by the damn Nos thing going off. I can take advantage of all the USSCM  :cheernutz: It has more than 100 buttons, rather than having just 14-20 buttons and combos...

Any recommendations for a great set-up. I wanted to ask a pro of the forums about this because I jyst wanted to know whats good or not =]

I use VC buttons setup in SA too, it's the easiest way imo.

Do you use SAAC?

Nope. I have everything like in VC, lean forward and back on numpad 9 and 6 etc, acceleration and steering on arrow keys, mouse left - nitro, right ctrl - handbrake, right shift - horn, and hydraulics on / and 8 from the numpad, and look left and right on numpad 1 and 2. That's all I need for dannye I guess, it works really well.

Might be more trouble than it's worth.

Are you used to the playstation controller? Try ebay. I just ordered a cable connecter (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PLAYSTATION-PS2-PS3-PC-USB-CONTROLLER-CONVERTER-/190428314772?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_VideoGames_VideoGameAccessories_VideoGameAccessories_JN&hash=item2c56697c94#ht_2326wt_1108) (for £3) and a controller (for less than £2). All up it cost me less than £10 including delivery. I received it all in under a week.

I might try a wired 360 controller. I had that berfore I used Logitech, and it was good.

Could I register some of the stuff to the keyboard while using a game pad?

Example being like Change Radio Station be "Z" and Nitrous "N" but have acceleration "2" on my game pad. You feel me?

You can in VC. I have to admit that I always found Dannye's main.scm for gamepad pretty poor; I hacked up my own in '07 but deleted it long ago.

I think it's just a matter of whatever works for you.
