Title: Could I run GTAIV?
Post by: Cody on April 09, 2010, 08:52:56 PM
The Requirements:

OS: Windows Vista - Service Pack 1 / Windows XP - Service Pack 3
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8GHz, AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4GHz
Memory: 1.5GB XP / 1.5GB Vista
Graphics: 256MB Nvidia 7900 / 256MB ATI X1900

My comp:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32Bit
Processor: AMD Athlon X2 64 1.9GHz
Memory: 3072 MBs
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 5400 Series @ 512MB

The processor, according to the "requirements" is my only weak point. But I heard high-end cards can't even run this game, so that's why im wondering if I could run it or not.

According to that test.
So should I buy it or what? I don't wanna waste cash on something that would probably destroy my shit. lol

I wouldn't recommend playing it on a Dualcore at all. Almost unplayable except if you got something running at 4Ghz or something. If you're lucky enough you may get 30FPS slightly playable with tons and tons of tweaks but...youre not gonna like it trust me.

Not to mention that your graphicscard is EXTREMELY weak (just saw that) Now I doubt that youre going to get anything above 15-20FPS even with tweaks :P I take back my 30FPS presumtions.

I have dual core. I run it at 30-40 fps (23-25 while frapsing), I recommend you get it as it's such an awesome game  :P Then again, if u don't wanna waste money on it... There are other options  :euro:

i'm playing GTA IV on  Core Duo E8400 2x3ghz with 4gb of ram and 9800gtx 1gb on windows 7 and i get 25-50 fps so its playable on dual...  but when i used XP SP3 i played it on 45-60fps and the graphics were absolutely the same.

forgot to say what settings i'm playing:
Everything high and the ajustable things on 50/50/6 or sum shit except the water detail witch is on medium on 1920x1080 16:9 resolution ;)

don't get it, not only because your not going to run it very well, but because it's not a very good game.

With all my respect sir. GTA IV has an amazing story combinet with cool graphics and insane physics.

Only because its a poor xbox360 port doesnt make it a "not very good game"

if amazing phyx includes looking retarded while backfliping on a bike, then sir, you got an incredible game. Other than that, driving a car look like you got oil in those streets + you dont have any tires + the fact that if you crash on a NRG-900 you wont fall (according to the speed obviously) and when you're on a freeway or w/e that bike's name is, you fall even if you break too much.

The only good thing in this game IMO are those graphics.

@ontopic: Storm, why dont you download it, test, and if you like you buy it? Much easier tbh

it was released for xbox like a year earlyer...

edit: @ XO dude if you get The Lost And Damned it would be so hard to fall from your bike that its going to be a  challenge to land stunts with bail :)

About car phisics.. well if you drive faster and better you know that the game will be crashing all arround cuz its alot of loading for the oldest PCs... Plus inf and comet are not driving on "butter"  ...
