OK nimrods, need some advice.
I already got this game ordered from ASDA for 35 quid. I expect to get it on 20th. However, visited my local game shop and they'll have it TODAY, but for 45 quid. Should I be patient and save a tenner, or get it before most others? :P
-
Be patient, you got MW2. :)
-
Yeah finish the campaign mode on MW2 and if you have then play through the gta series from VCS to III then HL1 to HL DLC2 :P
-
Assassin's Creed was pretty awesome so second part should be even more i guess, if i could i'd buy it today
-
Already finished the campaign mode on MWII lol.
Btw - Fuck Face/Flat Fuck/Fuck Flat, as an admin can you change the typing command for the smiley smile icon? Idiots like me keep typing this: :) and it doesn't show as a smiley face because it's currently set on typing it as
I played the first Assassin's Creed and loved it, heard awesome things about the second one.
-
I decided to wait it out, I saw an email from ASDA saying it was dispatched last night (17th). I'm kinda expecting it in the post tomorrow (19th). I'm busy anyway with various stuff around the house to be playing too much games, but is anyone else excited about the upcoming release or am I the only one? :P
-
I am. Going to find a cheap place to get it from soon. Various sites gave it a 9/10 and this time not because it's Assassins Creed and the idea is awesome. It seems everybody learned from the first game. I heard that the mission system is more like GTA and that most of the time you find yourself doing stuff you didnt plan to do but thought of doing while on your way to a mission.
-
I was pretty late to the AC party, only just got into the first one about a month ago. While I'll agree it has faults, its hard not to keep wanting to come back for more - I can't get enough of the style, atmosphere and setting.
I have certainly heard lots of good things about 2, including that many of the prior's faults had been addressed, and am looking forward to trying it out at some stage - I should probably finish 1 first, heh.
-
I was late with the first one too Dannye, but not as late as yourself. I'm eagerly waiting for the postman to come so I can see whether the game will arrive today or not. If he doesn't have it I'm setting my German Shephard onto him, the bastard.
Reviews so far have been fairly complimentary, but a few are freaking out over the ending.
EDIT: Woohoo, it arrived today :D
-
So after two days of playing the game, I've finished the storyline. And...well...if you don't want it ruined for you, ignore the spoiler bit:
ALIENS?!?!?! This is some really fucked-up shit right there. It's always been a bit out-there after the ending of the first game and that Apple of Eden pish, but this is just going to extremes. By the look of things these aliens that people confuse to be Gods nowadays created people or whatever - and more to the point knew Desmond would one day witness Ezio's encounter with them. More so, there's some apocolyptic tones in there, with things like the disaster that happened the first time (leading to these aliens or whatever creating mankind 'in their image') could be on the horizon once more. This time there's no doubt about it what-so-bloody-ever, more games are on the horizon - not one, but a few I guess, if they're gonna follow through with this.
Gameplay's pretty damn sweet, loving the double assassinations - especially from the air. You can really just fly through the city, it's got an awesome parkour feel to it. A big change in how you do missions, it's more direct and there's no messing about. You don't HAVE to climb those giant towers anymore too all the time, it's not necessary! (Fun though). Lots of variety to it, those weird 'subject 16' glyph thingys are pretty nutty, only done three so far I think as it's not relevant to storyline (least not in this game I guess, who knows for next time?)
The much-hyped flying mission was not bad, but different from the demo in E3. Those fires do serve a purpose, though, keeps you elevated cos of the heat. Kicking people while flying's cool too. What MIGHT drive people doo-lally are the missions to retrieve seals from underground tombs - lots of precise jumping about and swinging around required, especially against the clock. The camera usually cuts to show you where to jump next in such challenges, helping you to figure out roughly where it is you're aiming to throw yerself. There's not a lot of going in and out the animus either, you only leave once really for a 'break', which Desmond shows some really trippy side-effects to being in that bloody machine, and immediately after the game ends you're still able to be hooked up to the animus for some freeplay - obtaining feathers and any other collectables.
Some interesting ideas in the game, but that ending was just a huge WTF moment - reviews have said it, Desmond said it as the credits started rolling, and I said it too when I saw it. A very fun game, which has lots of replay value to it as lots of the missions are quite fun.

Lol I rolled over the spoiler accidently and was like WTF too after only reading that first word. :(
Gonna buy this Friday, can't wait.
-
Sorry bout that, I think it should be a clickable thingy instead, to view a spoiler just click the banner or whatever - I was afraid accidents like that could happen.
The random side quests about using the eagle vision on random symbols on walls and then trying to figure out the puzzles are doing my nut in. Some are easy enough but it's like ones which ask you to pick 5 different things that are linked to a clue, from 10 options, that really boggles my tiny little mind.
-
I pre-ordered it for PC :cheernutz:
Does anybody know the release date for the pc version?
-
No idea.
However, you can kill people with BROOMS!
-
Fuck yeah, just picked it up at my friends place, gonna sleep now and post my first impressions tomorrow. :)
-
I envy you, Genyus.. :P
-
I envy you, Genyus.. :P
I was drunk anyways :P
So, I just did a huge session and I gotta say it's pretty fucking awesome. Assassins Creed 1 is left in the dark by this game. They improved it on so many points. Sometimes I do still bail while running but nonetheless it is better.
-
On PC January of 2010, I read somewhere, for someone who asked in topic.
And yeah, I've finished it twice now. Finding feathers is a pain in the arse - that wee pinocchio bro of yours or whatever his bastarding name was deserved what he got!
-
Haha thats harsh :P
Watch out spoiler alert!
Do you think Assassins Creed 3 will be played as Desmond in the current time, with the skills he learned? Just using guns and stuff? Would be pretty sweet. :>
-
I will also do my best to ensure no idiots accidentally hovers over the spoiler.
Don't put your mouse under this shite.
OK?
With the way the second game was set up, it does seem like that is the case. In terms of learning skills, what else could there possibly be? The game itself is supposed to be a trilogy only, but I don't think it would be popular with fans if the historic settings were to be replaced with modern environments. I think it could be a combination of both, with Desmond himself more heavily involved.
The Templars are NOT their main threat, Lucy said I think - so who, or what, is? If you've found all the glyphs then that movie will also be a bit freaky. Adam and Eve - with the apple - very confusing.
They were heading north. Considering they were probably in the USA at the time - what is north of that? Canada and then Greenland I suppose. They took the animus with them, so that will surely still have a big role to play. And as AC2 was set in the early 16th Century - what are the next big historical moments after that in terms of fighting? Obvious thoughts are things like the two World Wars, but there's rumours as well about setting it in the middle ages. Personally I think it has to be a forward progress - it'd make little sense to go backwards again to view the memories of ancestors when we need to find out what happened after Ezio's trip to that vault.
There are a shitload of mysteries left to uncover. It's all tied in with the first game, don't forget - Abstergo want the apple of Eden to launch into space as it would allow them to control everyone on the planet! They've found the apple in the memories of the ancestors, so where is it now? That's what we will find out in AC3. It's all a fictional game, but there are conspiracy nuts who may look at this game and wonder how much may actually be reality - secret orders looking to control the general population for centuries? Conspiracy nuts feast on such stories!
-
damn, cant wait for pc version :c
-
KJ, what spoilers can I read from those 4? I didnt finish the game yet :P
-
Avoid spoilers two and three, one and four should be fine.
See what I did there folks? Instead of it all being one giant spoiler, I made four seperate ones :) that way hovering over one paragraph won't reveal the entire contents. Ain't I a thoughtful bitch?
-
So thoughtful :jaja:
Anyways, SPOILERS
I just did that part where you can freerun as Desmond and it's pretty epic, he moves a lot smoother than all the other guys. It really does seem like AC3 might actually be in the current time as Desmond. Would be strange but actually quite cool too, can't wait to kill that freak Vidic or something >:]
Also that part where you play as Altair, why did Desmond go all wtf when he saw that belly of the woman? (implying she is pregnant probably)
And I actually wouldn't be surprised if there were conspiracy nuts working on the making of this game, just to help out :P
-
There may be spoilers, ahead...
I think he was all WTF cos he suddenly stopped following Altair's memory - which is what he's so used to. To suddenly just stop while he moves on must've been weird. Hell, the whole thing was weird, as he wasn't in the animus at the time! It does imply those two did the dirty, and made a baby assassin :P
That's just the tip of the iceberg though for WTF moments. Where are they going, where is the apple and the staff and all the OTHER pieces of Eden, what other ancestors will be visited, who were 'THEY' from before - it's just mind-boggling. This is all kinda playing into the 'end of the world' thing the Mayans talked about as well. Is it meant in an apocolyptic sense? Buggered if I know.
Sadly, the third game is probably gonna be out ages from now, on the next generation of computer consoles (Xbox 720?) and the answers are at least a couple of years away.
-
I don't care about the game aspect, but I got the soundtrack (because I have a new found mancrush on Jesper Kyd) and it's awesomeeeeeeeeeee
-
When i get my PS3 back I'll def pick it up :D
