If you plan on building (or upgrading) a PC around the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto IV, the official Games For Windows web site has a helpful rough estimate for what kind of hardware you're gonna need. To make it look as pretty as the version we saw, which ran just shy of 2560 x 1600, expect to bring some serious computing power to the table. While the minimum system requirements for the Windows version of GTA IV are still a mystery, the recommended requirements are yours for the studying. Recommended operating system? Windows XP SP2, natch. For the hard stuff, make the jump.
Processor: Dual core processor (Intel Pentium D or better)
RAM: 2GB
Hard Drive: 18GB free hard disk space
Video Card: 512MB Direct3D 10 compatible video card or Direct3D 9 card compatible with Shader
Drive: DVD-ROM dual-layer drive
http://kotaku.com/5049326/here-are-gta-iv-...em-requirements (http://kotaku.com/5049326/here-are-gta-iv-pcs-recommended-system-requirements)
NOTE: These are NOT the MINIMUM system requirements. They are just the *recommended* system requirements for GTA IV to be played on decent settings with a decent fps.

I read it on games for windows siteweb some hours ago.
It look crazy 18gb. No information about ghz for the cpu
-
As long as you have a Core 2 Duo, you should be fine. Besides, the processing power doesn't become that important as long as you have a dual core, and even better if you have a quad core (assuming GTA IV will support multi-core systems). What really matters is your GPU.
-
I'm gonna buy a new PC soon and i'm a total newbie for computer talk but can i ask if it will run ot these recuiraments (i'm pretty sure it will but just to make sure)

Yeah, but I wouldn't recommend that video card...from what I've researched, its fairly mediocre.

We're checking in with Rockstar to make sure these figures are on the up and up, but until someone says otherwise, we'd think it's safe to start trolling NewEgg for whatever your needs may be.
Do you even read before you post brandon?

6,47 GB (6.956.031.956 Bytes)
GTA 4 for Xbox 360, German release version without security sectors
Stop speculating... personally I think 18GB is ok if it has like 5 or 6 texture stages, but I would say most of them are compressed and you won't need that much space
Here are some small things:
1,33 GB (1.436.735.488 Bytes) - Radio stations
354 MB (371.292.116 Bytes) - TV stations
1,69 GB (1.816.801.280 Bytes) - Other audio
657 MB (688.992.256 Bytes) - Animations
299 MB (314.456.064 Bytes) - Generic models (models, textures, ..)
22,7 MB (23.861.248 Bytes) - Scripts and scripted objects
74,7 MB (78.329.856 Bytes) - Common files
2,05 GB (2.206.484.480 Bytes) - Map data (models, textures, ..)
[...]
Green = This will probably sized down
Orange = This will probably stay at its current size
Red = This will probably become larger
-
looks good, ill be running it properly

Hopefully I'll be able to run this game.
Hope you're joking, you could run 3 GTAIV's in a window and still have no lag.

And ?
I read in another web that needs the Windows Vista to play GTA IV. Though I am not sure .
-
Which idiot said that?
-
Vista isn't required for GTAIV.
I could see Microsoft bribing Rockstar with like 100 million dollars for them to make it vista only though, since buying their products to the top is what they do best.
-

Why do you even reply to such assholes? If I could do, I would ban these fucking kids for posting comments, only to show how cool they are (by telling us how great their systems are..)

That's an integrated graphics card, which is REALLY going to struggle with this game, if it is even able to run it at all.
If you have an extra 100 bucks lying around, you could pick up a pretty decent card that will play the game on high settings with a pretty good fps.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814131095 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131095)
$69.99 after rebate, and a really good card, better than my 8800 GTS, at a great price.
-
alright though the graphics card wouldntt make it. is there a way to calculate how much ram i'd have left after this?
-
Please upgrade your Directx to 9 and apply the directx 9.c
-
is there a website for that?

8800GT at a very nice price
Although you may need to look into a new PSU if its under 300w
-
is there a website for that?
First you need directx9
here (http://ftp://clubicvisiteur40902:[email protected]/temp-clubic-rx1632/logiciel/directx_9_0b_directx_9.0c_francais_10906.exe)
then the patch
here (http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/4/c/64c3d3d6-c5da-47eb-9db4-86e45b9f579e/directx_mar2008_redist.exe)
-
Well yeah, for $10 more the 8800 GT is a great buy as well.
-
ok 100$ is gonna be my limit so ill prob go with it
