Filter Grunge Background Tutorial[/color]
Step 1: Make a new image (I'm using 400x120), press D to reset the colour palette.
Step 2: Navigate to Filter > Render > Clouds. You should get something close to this:

Step 3: Navigate to Filter > Stylize > Find Edges, then press CTRL+I to Invert. You should have this:

Step 4: Navigate to Image > Adjustments > Brightness and Contrast, and set Contrast to 60. You should have this:

Step 5: Navigate to Filter>Brush Strokes > Spatter. You should get this:

I know you can acheive better results with brushes, but I made this for the New to PS guys.

Simple but nice results. Maybe work on text

Couldn't be bothered to special effects or anything so I just changed Blending to Soft Light and added border + glow.
