Title: Time for a new PC
Post by: Juan on April 24, 2008, 08:16:08 PM
HMM all i know at the moment is that the cpu will be the intel 9650(9700 is overkill). Can someone link me to some good deals on blazing fast ddr3 ram and a good mobo to go with it, as well as some suggestions for vid card, money is not an issue, post links here.

(sure you can crossfireX the 3870X2's, but honestly it's just a waste. it's your call)

if money isnt an issue, of course

Actually a 9800gx2 has had better benchmarks than two 8800 Ultra's in most games tested.
Just one card imagine if you sli it.

Yeah I know that amd actually makes better cards then intel, however, intel is the poster boy for graphics cards and thus more stuff is compatible with it or runs better with it. I would probably get amd cause it's cheaper anyway though.

AMD and Intel are racing on CPU's, not Graphic Cards.

Semi massive bump, but i just sorta did a mini upgrade.

Bought an:

EVGA 790i Ultra SLI Nvidia motherboard
2 gigs of 2000mhz Patriot Viper DDR3 ram
BFG Nvidia Geforce GTX280 OC pci-e 2.0 1gb video card.
Intel Core2duo Quad Core 9450.

First thing im doing with this baby is installing SA, setting everything to low, and landing the ls tower naturally.

Returned the EVGA 790i mobo and bought a XFX 790i mobo(was $20 more expensive).

Ive spent about $2000 on the upgrade, i still plan on upgrading other stuff like maybe my OS, buying 2 more sticks of the same ram, and maybe watercooling.
