Title: [SA] Now, Returning to View
Post by: kr3mlin on March 11, 2008, 05:08:46 AM
(http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b79/kr3mlin/wmplayer2008-03-1123-09-36-53.jpg)
Here is my latest SA solo video. Now, Returning to View. I named it as a kind of answer to my "last stunt video" Now, Fading from View and therefore created my intro to reflect the link between the two videos. I have once again made a challenging song choice that I felt I have done some justice to with my editing and I am really keen to hear peoples thoughts on this part of the video. The stunts show where I am at these days with stunting, I am all about precision based stunting and grinds which I challenge myself with by throwing in as much variation to my approaches as possible and also using bicycles to make grinding rails that bit harder. I also have been given some great stunts from my guests and I thank them for their contributions. I hope you all enjoy and as always I would greatly appreciate any additional links people could upload and full reviews they write up

Yay, downloading!

Edit:

Wow, awesome video Kr3mlin! Loved it. The stunts were great as expected, some awesome and creative stuff, which shows your best element in stunting! The geust stunts also were top notch! On to the editing, it was pretty awesome imo and showed a unique style like your stunts! I didn't really like the song, but it fit the editing well so I didn't really bother, but the thing was that I was hoping you'd be using a Radiohead song.. Other then that awesome stuff dude!

-YouTube link is processing
-The HD version will come tomorrow with a special surprise for those who choose to get it

@Bob: I could've used a Radiohead song...but it would've been a third video in a row with one of their tracks and I am loving the band I did use too much right now not to give them some love

Very entertaining solo kr3m. Amazing how you pick the most random songs and make them work perfectly every time, really loved it
That police helicopter gap was by far my favorite, combined with the opener, the ambulance hop grind combo and T's bridgegrind.
Good stunts from the other guests aswell and thanks again for the oppurtunity

Oh yeah...here is a fun little bit of info. Over 1/3 of these stunts were landed within a week of each other in July of last year and even more over the months of July and August combined. A long time to keep them waiting

Thanks for the comments thus far. I am also working on a Sendspace link for the 3mbps version atm

I really enjoyed this, mainly because of great variation in the stunts. Loads of refreshing stuff, great combos, and various use of different vehicles (bit of too much bicycles tho ) The editing is one of it's kind, and the song was... weird, but new and different. A very outstanding video with it's own theme and style, great!

First off, I'm not really into this kind of stunting, but this video was pure entertainment to watch.

You're one of my favourite stunters in SA, kr3mlin, and you never stop to amaze me. You pull off so much creativity and variety in your stunts, and it's a great way of showing skills. This video is great, great stunts and editing, the music wasen't really that good and the intro song was really disturbing. Also, the guests did also a great job.

Very nice video, kr3mlin. It's always fun to see you stunt

As a very wise man said: "It's not about getting highest or longest, it's to be creative" or whatever Kert said
This vid was one of the most creative vids I've ever seen.
Editing was extremely good and the song(s);   !
This is definitly a 5/5'er.

I have to say even though you may hear it alot whenever you are in a video it is so refreshing and different to watch. I'm not quite sure what it is or how you do it but you always manage to do stunts that appeal to the common 'bump stunters' in the same context of stunts yet also its something.... well... different!  And IMO there are only a few stunters on this forum that do anything like that.

As for the video I liked it very much, the stunt that stood out for me the most was the 'bike' stunt where you bunnyhopped backwards onto the rail. Also the police helicopter gap was very good, were they scripted to stay there or were you lucky enough to get them lined up?

However I do have one complaint about this video. In some parts the camera angles were a little bit confusing, like in NuclearDeath's stunt it was hard to see what he bumped or what the thing he landed on was. Also a few of the other camera angles were a bit boring/confusing but the rest were lush

Overall an awesome video man, keep up the good work.

Ok, I don't normally like SA videos as I'm not an SA stunter and as of late the whole FL off craze makes a lot of the stunts look unappealing. However, this was just awesome. Every stunt was so well thought of, it was just so fun to watch. I really would like to see you bring this huge wave of creativity over to VC more often. The editing was spot on too, the music was awesome (The Mars Volta own) and all the guest stunts rocked as well.

This is what stunting is all about.

Good video there mister.
You had a lot of creative stunts in there... quite a rare sight to see creativity like that these days.
Some of the more spectacular aspects of stunting was slightly lost due to the creativity though and the video lacked some pace because of that.
I would enjoy a natural balance where both spectacular and creative stunts (like RAD's method CAN be used for creative stunts too you know...) plays an equal part.
Don't take this the wrong way, they were all wicked and yes creative but i think you sacrificed a little too much trying to be creative however.
That helicopter stunt was epic just for the record, perfect combination of creative and spectacular.
Alright editing and meh-ish music.

8/10 since this was indeed quite unique

Lies  Editing wasn't best

It was great oldschool vid. Stunts for sure was in your style that mean no bumps just lovely green bike and a few railes. I like the music (but i have no idea why you and core use that weird for me kind of music) and editing wasn't bad  But im still happy you back to "job".

-Well the bikes get stuck using the Car Fly idea...check SA tutorials for it
-The helicopters are in mid-air because they are helicopters and that is what they do. You cannot place them you have to work on getting them into that area

Thanks for all the great comments guys. Much appreciated

Post by: Sucker on March 12, 2008, 05:14:26 AM
here is a full review by Sucker.

@intro : nice work but i felt little boring.

@main :

0:55 - 1:03 : nice find, it was a rly creative stunt. also, it was a nice work.
1:04 - 1:15 : new way of using dumper as a ramp. i love fast grinds. btw, did u have to get an wheelie for getting more faster speed?
1:16 - 1:25 : it has a quite far distance, but u made it with bike. and setting that situation was rly cool.
1:25 - 1:38 : cool.
1:38 - 1:47 : how about doing this without bunny-hop again like just jump2stoppie2grind? btw, awesome.
1:47 - 2:00 : it was creative. i expected for grab but it wasnt
2:01 - 2:09 : good precision landing ND. what car did u set?
2:10 - 2:19 : what a stunt!!! i love it. u did a hard wallride work.
2:19 - 2:27 : TD's infy stunts are always luxury. i didnt think that method to get there. btw, im trying it with the other way xD
2:27 - 2:32: it was creative too. air2lowbump2board, with hpv. great!
2:32 - 2:45 : it's been long time to see a cool largegrind. good job, torque.
2:46 - 2:54 : u got a quite long distance. how did u sink the rear wheels?
2:54 - 3:03 : nice to meet grab2grind again lol.
3:03 - 3:12 : at first it reminded me "flightgear", but u landed on more precise area.
3:12 - 3:30 : nice find largegrind spot in chillad.
3:30 - 3:43 : good doublegrind, yeah.
3:43 - 3:50 : i lost this spot.
3:51 - 3:56 : nice CSM in SA xD
3:57 - 4:05 : jump2grind2grind2stoppie(short moment)2backward whellie? unbelievable stunt!!!! it would be more hard if u have a stoppie before grinding.

it was rly creative stunts overally

9.5/10

@ editing & camera angles(CA) :

0:55 - 1:03 : i dont like the CA. nothing special on the editing.
1:04 - 1:15 : natural transition with blur. i realized there was a "black and white" plug-in when i see this part twice.
1:16 - 1:25 : nice on using 2 video tracks.
1:25 - 1:38 : panning with only just zooming was boring.
1:38 - 1:47 : cool transiting.
1:47 - 2:00 : well-matching on music with using "TV simulator" 1:56's transition was nice too.
2:01 - 2:09 : "TV simulator" is useful effect.
2:10 - 2:19 : nice view. why didnt u put another CA? glow effect was cool.
2:19 - 2:27 : moving CA naturally is hard work, but u did it!
2:27 - 2:32 : the fixed CA was good to express this stunt
2:32 - 2:45 : many effects were used in this part.
2:46 - 2:54 : naturall panning.
2:54 - 3:03 : zooming was awesome too.
3:03 - 3:12 : scripting was impressive yeah.
3:12 - 3:30 : nothing special to mention.
3:30 - 3:43 : using both "TV simulator" "news point" at the same time was not good
3:43 - 3:50 : how did u do that? using mask or chroma keyer?
3:51 - 3:56 : it looks not high much because of CA but it looks active.
3:57 - 4:05 : highlight of this vid.

8.5/10

music : i like it.

8.5/10

outro :  nice trying that u put video game scene in outro.

overall : it was very impressive and awesome vid.

9/10

ps. i became a fan of kr3m after i saw this vid. xD

Hey thanks for the review Sucker

As for a question about the second stunt...I did not mean to use that to get the speed as it is possible without, it just happend that way because sometimes when you start pedalling straight from a teleport you go into a wheelie. The rep would show that my previous attempts within it do not use the wheelie

Also the ledgegrind is not near Chilliad but on the north western corner of San Andreas

I guess I'm pretty right if I say that Sucker wants to look like a effect-specialist. Fail. Nice to see a review about the editing like that though.

FINALLY. a vid with TMV

great vid, but I really didn't like the slow grinds. I'll still be downloading the HQ when it comes out, though

btw, what CD was that from? I don't think I have it on my computer. All I have is the new one and Frances the mute.

Dude it's from the album in your avatar .

I actually meant to reply to your comment when I read it but forget

I respect what you said about the whole spectacular thing with stunting as it is what makes stunting amazing and I get the there will always be crossover between the two ideas you put forward. I only struggle to do so with stunts you are thinking of because I basically suck at bumping and don't really care to learn or maintain skills in that area. An ideal video I have in mind would be a 2 person collab where I am free to go crazy with ideas whilst being paired up with someone who can consistently enter the stratosphere and go faster than the flash...hmm maybe something for a later date I guess

Hoho, i watched this yesterday and just now i noticed that TD is in it, that sneaky bastard. Anyways top notch job kr3m. I think the song suited very well to the pace of the vid and the editing. Lovely bike stunts to watch and some diversion with T's nrg and Td's infy stunt.

Double heli gap was sick.

It was creative !

Good points : The first good thing I'll say about this video is that it's from you ( Keep a little ego, Keep a little ego, Keep a little ego... ). Start by the tittle, good idea to use it in the same way as your past solo that lets expect the best from it. The intro was very well edited, a bit weird but not to much for be in the capacity to appreciate it. Mixing the main song in the intro and do a transition between both part was a great idea, same for the katana idea for present the tittle. It's a stunt video, lets talk about the stunt part   I'll don't speak about all the stunt so for resume they were all creative. The first stunt was a new sort of precision because it's not the landing, but the place of the bunny hop. The other stand out was your heli gap defiantly, I remembered me Tack's period. The wheelie thing before the gap in monster is the last new thing showed here IMO, others stunt has been more or less presented in the past, bunny hop on a wall to grind done by kert, wallride to palm on the wall showed in TimeCrash, grab to grind from Concept 3, still creative and really enjoyable. Oh I forgot that wallride to grind, very creative and nice effect on it, I loved, a bit slow though but who cares... Also, thanks for let me join it mate, I'm really proud to be in your solo for my first guest appearances of my "career".
PS : The idea ( another one ) of playing at a old school game as outro was well found too.

Bad points : They are hard to find because we can't reproach you to did some very easy stunts since only ideas count. I take the occasion for ask you why you used an ambulance for your airgrab to grind, seems possible without, I guess it's for make it a bit different. The grind onto the last stunt was short but you know that  and it's a hard one. The outro music sucked a bit.... yeah I'm ashamed to find only that as bad points.

Overall : Defiantly a video who make you deserve the Kr3ativity surname done by Xtramus since Unbroken. A Kr3mlin video kinda indescribables. I loved it, and thanks for let me take part in it once again
