My Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 came in the mail today, and I overclocked it to 3.2 GHz and it just fucking owns. If any of you plan on upgrading to a Core 2 Duo, get the E6550. Its only 183$ and with overclocking, you can overclock it to the speeds of the 366$ E6850. Just an awesome CPU. My camera battery died after I took the screens of the processor , so there aren't that many screens of the proccesor.
Box for the E6550:
If you plan on upgrading your PC, you should definitely get this.

So, I upgraded from a single core P4 overclocked to 3.3 GHz, to this baby. Even at stock clocks the E6550 raped the P4. The CPU has 4MB L2 Cache which makes the multitasking abilities intoxicating lol... I rendered a movie with vegas, ran 2 virusscans, and played CSS and BF2 and the thing didnt even stutter. For 183$ this is a great deal If you plan on upgrading your PC, you should definitely get this.
You prolly got a kickass comp.
But wtf did you just said? lol

aww man this is not good

It is pretty good. I bought it for gaming. My specs are:
Motherboard: ASUS P5N-E SLI
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 @ 3.2 GHz (default vcore)
Cooler: Zalman CNPS9500
RAM: 2GB OCZ Platinum DDR2 Dual Channel @ 900 MHz (4-4-4-12 2T timings)
Video Card: BFG GeForce 7950 GT 256 MB @ 625 MHz
Everything is overclocked

Could you fry your hardware by overclocking?

Could you fry your hardware by overclocking?
Not really, all the new hardware has a maximum threshold of temperature. For example, if the CPU gets hotter than 60 degrees celcius, then the CPU will shut off, preventing it from frying
Usually when your overclock is too high, you'll know because your PC will randomly restart or lock up, and that is good because its the only way of telling if your overclock is too high.

6550, so is that a step below the 6600.
*Goes to over clock all his hardware*
Edit- HOLY FUCKING SHIT, the default speed for your processor is 2.33ghz and your running it at 3.2ghz on nothing but air. OMFG, gotta get me one of those coolers.

I don't even have a job, the main way I get money is by mowing the lawn once a week, and I get 20$ for it. It's so hard making money like that. Rich? lol....

Juan, and thats with no changes to the voltage. That means that the temperature of the CPU at 2.33 GHz is the same as the temperature at 3.2 GHz. If I overclock any higher than 3.2 GHz, the temperature will start rising, but not by a whole lot. I'm happy at 3.2 GHz, so I won't overclock anymore And Juan, they have gotten over 4 GHz with a good cooler like mine with this CPU. Ill leave a link in a second.
EDIT: Found it:
After increasing Vcore to 1.41 v, the author of experiment was able to overclock the processor core 2 Duo e6550 (2.33 GHz) to 3.85 GHz. The frequency of system system bus in this case was increased to 550 MHz, Multiplier was set to the maximum value 7x.

Uhm... A question: How many money you spend for computer stuff in a month? You buy like every month a new computer.
And I thought sometime ago, also about buying an Intel Core2Duo, first my mom agreed, but then she buyed a AMD Athlon 64 3200 from my brothers friend.
