Okay so I was going to wait until Brandonnumbers got on, but I'm very impatient, so fuck it.

So i've been having virus problems for a few weeks now, and since Kaspersky doesn't seem to do shit all about it, I figured i'd do something myself. There have been alot of useless bullshit pop-ups coming from IE, so I uninstalled IE alltogether...but for some reason they still appear...like IE is still on my 'puter.

Any answers to why this would be happening?

Have you tried to do a boot scan before the virus starts working and then you can quarantine it? You can also try to run Spybot S&D 'cause it could be adware..

Well how would IE still run if its not installed anymore? Like it still loads up the pop-ups and shit.

if im not wrong.. if you uninstall IE from the add/remove program.. then the basic windows IE are still intact... have you try removing from the windows main prog?

Download and install AVG-Anti Spyware and do a complete system scan.

Run it and I guarantee you it will find tons of infected files, so when the scan is done, just click "Delete All"

If that doesn't work, do what okii said and use Add/Remove Windows Components to uninstall and reinstall Internet Explorer.

I don't mean to start a FireFox vs. Internet Explorer war in here, but you should really consider switching to Firefox Val. I mean, you have its faster, easy to use, and it's less prone to getting viruses than Internet Explorer...

And if none of those things solve your problem, try a system restore or if you have to, reformat

lol dude. I have Firefox, and yes, it is ALOT faster, especially with that plugin SL suggested.

I do have Ad-Aware, but if its not getting rid of the spyware of whatever other shit there is then I guess i'll download this.

Edit: Huge thanks btw. Brandon you are now my hero and official go-to guy for computer-type shite. This man saved me from 5,000+ infected files AND a trojan.   Which ironically came from a Battlefield 2 Trainer

FYI
you can NOT uninstall internet explorer... it is built into the operating system as explorer.exe, its with all folders you have open and the start bar.

go ahead and open a folder, and type a website in the address bar, its the same damn thing.
