Im relatively new to Photoshop and just wanted to show some of my stuff to (hopefully) get some constructive criticism.

Tried Doing a glowing effect on the lightsaber, didnt come out great...

You want to do the white stroke on the lightsaber with a 25-30px white soft round brush and in Blending Options mess with the colors, gradients, outer glow and what not. I actually quite like the wallpaper, good job on that.
