There's a wall next to it . If it falls I wouldn't be all that bothered any way. I'm on my second 360 and both of them are launch consoles. If or when this 360 breaks I'm hoping for a recent manufacture date, not just some refurbed launch console.

With 2 monitors you can game on 1, and still have msn on the other, it doesnt show the same thing on both.
Think of it as splitting an extra wide monitor in half, one side sees one thing, the other sees another thing.

You get the buttons next to the start-button with activating it. For that, do an rightclick on your taskbar -> then on the first thing(I don't know the English word for "Symbolleisten") and click on Quickstart. Then just drag and drop your shortcuts in that thing.

It makes less noise than 120mm or 80mm fans. The case contains three 230mm Fans which are running at 800RPM. The bigger the fan, the less noise. ;)

With fraps 2.9.8, when you uncheck the "nosync" thing, and put 25fps in the fps, even if you're at 1fps, every clips will bring the real fps to 25, which doesn't change anything, just take way more time, because I had 6fps without recording, and 1-2while recording. I had to be really slow with my mouse. The worst, was in vegas.
Even without any cc, I just couldn't see shit at the preview. It was laaggy. I couldn't buy my own computer because my parents didn't want me to waste my money into that. Since I started working as an it tech, I could buy myself my stuff. Took (overall) 2 years to get what I have there. From the first thing I bought (Mouse) to the last (logitech z906) :lol:

- Keyboard - I had a Roccat Isku bought 120CHF but it broke, so I bought a G19 for 150CHF to my exgf. She stopped working at logitech, and they give her tons of gift during she was working there. She never used it.
Headset - Razer Megalodon bought 190CHF
Monitor - 1 - Acer 27", 350CHF - it was a present for my birthday from my mom, dad, and some uncles. :lol: 2 - Acer 20", took it at the job.
Desk - two ikea tables with ikea legs for 160CHF.
Whole computer - around 1400chf
Z906 - 300chf
Macbook air 13" - The one from the job I always take. :P This is the brand new one, maxed out by the job, it's so fucking fast. I love the bitrate of the hdds.
= 2480CHF overall. I bought the Razer Mamba in December 2011

I do an apprentice as an IT tech at the EPFL. I'm on my 2nd year. I was earning 800CHF a month first year, and now I'm earning 1000CHF a month.
Before this, (half 2012) I worked in a restaurant, I was doing 700CHF per month.
Switzerland's life is pretty expensive, so high salaries are useful.

The least for switzerland is 3500. You can't get under it, except if you're working as an apprentice.

My monitor finally arrived. It'll be calibrated during the next days with a Datacolor Spyder. I will get a Displayport cable soon as well in order to make use of the 75 Hz it is capable of.
I also connected my graphic tablet after a looong while. ZBrush became a pleasure with it and a few keyboard shortcuts. The front speakers had to be turned sideways, so the sound passes through beneath the monitor bezels. That sucks, but this desk is just too small.

I've then also tried NVIDIA Surround for the first time, but it doesn't seem to like monitors with different aspect ratios/resolutions. The 21:9 screen only runs with a stretched 16:9 image.

Even GTA V runs on fairly high settings on a single GTX 970, which was very surprising. I'll try some other games & applications later on.

NVIDIA surround allows you to combine your screens to one virtual big one. The games were run at a resolution of 5760x1080 & 60 Hz. I haven't played CS competitively this way yet, but I think such a field of view is an unfair advantage. It's a shame that the screens have different heights/sizes, but this is just me messing around with tech. :P

I have also finally moved out of the shitty dorm. There's still stuff all over the new place, but eventually I'll get it outta the way. The printer & AVR/AMP will be put on a sideboard or so to get it off the (self-made!) desk. Gonna build some proper stands for the speakers at a later point too.
There have been some PC hardware upgrades too, but I can't be bothered to list them. Everything else can be seen in the picture I guess.

Sapphire's R9 290X / 390(X) with 8 GB if the price is to my liking. My monitor supports FreeSync so I wanna get rid of my green card.
However, that would be just temporary until AMD's new generation comes out. Their current power consumption would be a no-go in the long term for me. Unfortunately the Fury cards are just too expensive.
An additional 10 or 12 inch subwoofer is also on my list, but it would be better to consider it once I've got all my stuff set up. After measuring the speakers & EQ'ing to my liking I'd decide if the kicks are strong and clean enough.
A dishwasher. After washing by hand for like 3 years or more this is gonna be a godsend. :cheernutz:
I could also need a new house telephone, hairdryer and maybe a telephoto lens for my DSLR.
Other than that I'm just looking out for a few longer A/V cables since some will be too short once I get devices off the desk.

Laying on my coffee table in the sitting area, which is approximately where I stood to take the pic. I've reassigned it's buttons with Xpadder, so I can control my PC from back there too.
The cable goes from the back of my PC through the right palette and behind the radiator. It's more of a remote control for me nowadays. However, a few games are still more fun with that.

Well the N64 is connected to the bigger screen via Scart only at the moment.
Image quality isn't really great even though my N64 has the crazy ass high-end 4 MB RAM Expansion Pak for the "High-Resolution-Mode". ;D
However, my AVR might be able to upconvert (A/D-convert + upscale) the video signal to the TV's native 4K.
I haven't tested this out yet, but will probably do when I redo all the wiring.

Dell P2312Ht Monitor, Fujitsu S26381-K297-V165, Intellimouse 1.1A and an OG Kustom PC's mousepad, and some shitty Logitech Speakers/Turtle Beach headset (yeah they're on the upgrade list). Hitatchi 48inch LED TV and two 360s; one the 360 Slim E which is stock and I use for playing proper games, movies, etc and the second is a classic elite JTAG modded so I can just dl games and stick them on the drive; all those connected to an Edimax ES-3124RL switch.
Hardware wise I'm pretty solid apart from wanting to swap the H50 fans out with SP120's, swap case fans with some quieter ones and some bigger drives I'm happy. Really need a new TV stand/desk though, definitely not enough space plus the fact the TV stand fascia popped off and my PC is currently stood on my old NZXT case :P Hoping I can find a solid desk that reaches from one side of the wall to the other and just stick cable baskets underneath the desktop to hide everything.

Personally I wouldn't feel comfortable with those 1,4 Volts. Anyways, I'm curious about your CPU temps & single core score in Cinebench (File/Advanced benchmark).
A nice looking and fitted worktop would make a great desk in your space imo.

Yeah those Xeons are probably the best price/performance chips you can buy used at the moment (provided you have the LGA1366 board for them which tend to be expensive), the X5650 was £50 and a solid upgrade from an i7 920 and the whole thing was about £337 iirc. 1.4vcore is a little on the high side but it keeps it stable at 4.4GHz, definitely didn't do well in the silicone lottery for that chip as I've seen people with the same board have it stable at 4.4GHz and 1.35vcore. That being said the general consensus on those chips is about 1.4vcore for everyday use so it should be fine and if not I'll drop it down to 4.2Ghz which is still a solid OC over 2.67 stock.
Temp wise it's usually the low 40s idling and the highest I saw was about 76c when running prime95 to test it. Realistic load temps like when running RealBench or playing GTAO for a few hours is the mid 60s. Single core benchmark is 132 which isn't the best but it's nice to see a 2010 chip still keeping up with newer ones like the 3930k/4770k.
I've been looking at finding a desk with solid leg supports so that I can then replace the top of it with a cut to length worktop so I need to take some measurements. Still want to replace the GPU before that though as the 7950 is kinda lacking, waiting for Vega to see what kind of cards come out and then I'll make a decision.

It kinda comes down to what you're looking for. I considered going dual Xeons for a workstation alike machine on a cheapo board by SuperMicro when my 3570K died. That would've been mad compute performance for the price, but unfortunately games wouldn't utilize it. High OCs as yours still make those oldies solid performers for gaming too. The dude from Tech City builds coolio budget rigs including them from time to time. And about the silicone lottery: I know that feel bro
The idle temps look a lil high for an AIO to me, are you running the Voltage fixed? Unfortunately Vega still isn't around the corner, but I'm also looking forward to it (successor to 390 pls). Especially because C4D will have native GPU accelerated rendering in the upcoming version. At the moment the GPU market just sucks dick.
And thanks Nem. With an AMD card dual monitors kinda suck tho. Whenever both screens are running, the memory clock boosts to it's max and the card draws like 3x more power compared to idle lol.

Yeah I basically just wanted to get solid performance on a budget, ended up selling my PS4 as I didn't use it much and bough a bundle from a guy consisting of an i7 920, the gigabyte board, 12gb of DDR3, the H50 and the CM case with some fans for £160. Sold off the 920 later and replaced it with the X5650 recently. Bryan from Tech Yes is basically the reason I ended up with an X5650, I've spoke to him a few times on Twitter/Livestreams for advice and he's a really nice guy plus his videos are a good reference. One of the few tech youtubers who isn't annoying, other good ones you should check out are Green Ham Gaming and RandomGamingInHD; GHG focuses on random slightly themed tech videos and RGHD is more budget orientated stuff.
The fact it's an old used H50 probably contributes to the temps being high as do the fans as they aren't the best, eventually I'm gonna get around to replacing the H50 fans with Corsair SP120's and the case fans to AF120's/140's. The voltage is fixed, I wouldn't feel safe letting it auto adjust when it's already at around 1.4V. There's a guy on OCUK who had to restrict his X5650/Asus board to 4.0GHz as using a 22x multiplier would turbo to 23x and put him at 4.6GHz and fuck with his voltages. I'm still waiting for another guy with the same board/chip as me to send over his settings so I can hopefully bring my vcore/temps down but remember it's an X5650 95w TDP 32nm so the temps will seem a little higher compared to newer stuff on lower TDP's/22nm. The i7 920 ran even hotter since it's a 45nm chip!
The X5650 should keep me happy for the next few years but yeah the GPU market is lacking at the moment, hoping to see some nicely priced midrange cards from Vega. Even the CPU market is kinda iffy at the moment, 7700ks not offering much over the 6xxx counterparts aside from higher clock speeds at stock and 10-bit HEVC decoding on the chip.
Solid build btw, was the red/black/silver colour scheme intentional or did it just sort of happen? :P I'd like to get around to getting some cable extensions (probably BitFenix Alchemy cables) and sleeving the ones that come out of the PSU so it looks nice but I still need to replace my card/fans and some other stuff like aforementioned desk and a chair.

Half a decade ago, when I started the build, I had red on the outside (LED fans) and blue (RAM & PCBs) on the inside. After my Z77 platform died I went for matching internals. So yeah, it sorta happened, but was intentional too to some extent! :P
By now I re-arranged some of the fans (CPU cooler now runs push-pull) and replaced the RX 470 with MSI's RX 480 (8 GB). I flashd it's BIOS to the 580's for testing (multi monitor idle power draw), but reverted back, cuz it sucked way too much under load. Fortunately I picked it up before the mining boom. I'll stick with it at least until the custom Vega models are available.
Edit: I also got rid of my speaker setup. I wanna get 7"/8" nearfield monitors instead. :P
I'm currently building a super low budget system for my oldest niece - also based on a Xeon (X5472). It just needs a GPU now and it's pretty much done. I might be picking up a cheapo GTX 470 locally later today. The PSU sucks ass (non-modular, 400 Watts only & has just a 20pin plug for the MB)! I wanna have some fun OC'ing/tweaking this a bit, so I'll replace it most likely :lol:

It'll be dual x5650s eventually (or maybe x5670's I'm not sure), the Gigabyte board started acting weird in that previously stable OC's (4.0 solid passing IBT) started being unstable, dropped the volts/oc down and it was fine, bumped them back up and it was fine then one day on boot it spun up for a second, powered off and got that smell (you know the one I mean) - burn/scorch marks around VRM's and one of the caps looked fucked. Have a few spare boards so I tested the ram/gpu/psu/drives and it was all fine so I ended up selling those off, unsure if the cpu is fine or not and I don't really feel like testing it.
Got the Supermicro X8DTL-i board and two E5530's for 50 quid, only drawback is it's PCIE 2.0 x8 electrically in a 16x slot but the margin of difference is pretty low - grabbing a 970 for £120 after Christmas off a friend. Got another 4gb ram and a heatsink coming in the post so I can use the second socket, going to pick up a PC off a fella on gumtree this week; some old kt3 ultra board in a fairly good condition Chieftec case I'm guessing from 2002 for £20 and it also has a sound card/usb card which is nice. When it's done in January it should be dual x56x0's, 24gb ram and gtx 970 although I'm still on the fence about that card too.
If that's just a no name 400w supply I'd be concerned about sticking a 470 on it, those unbranded PSU's never really deliver anything close to what they're advertised as plus those 771 xeons (presuming you did 775 to 771 mod? good stuff) have a fairly high tdp at stock (120ish iirc) and those Fermi cards pull something like 200w. If you wanted to chuck a 470 in there and OC a bit I'd probably go for something like an EVGA 600W 80 Plus; while it's not modular they're fairly cheap, have two PCIE 6+2 and 49a on the 12v rail.

That new system would be pretty beefy for the money. The GPU market is a joke currently tho. The 970's chip still holds up very well, but the memory can certainly become an issue. The GTX 970 (4 GB), RX 470 (8GB) & RX 480 (8GB) I had are roughly performing in the same region and the memory made a noticable difference. The average FPS weren't much apart, but the additional VRAM on the RX ones had the FPS dip way less (=smoother overall) in some circumstances.
Some guy was offering Sapphire's HD 6950 (2GB) custom including shipping for 15 € on ebay-kleinanzeigen (GER classified ads site), cuz he couldn't test it's functionality. I took the risk and it paid off. It works just fine, so I cleaned it, applied new paste and flashed it to a 6970. Additional overclocking crashes the system tho. In combination with the CPU, which indeed has a TDP of 120 W, it draws just too much - the PSU just can't handle it. Will try to get a better PSU soon'ish to get this thing done. I did the mod the other way round - modded the 771 CPU (pin sticker & milled notches), not the 775 socket.
I calibrated my main monitor again recently and I'll build myself a monitor hood based on KAPA boards soon, cuz I couldn't find a reasonably priced one for 29" and 21:9. Well yea, I love deep blacks :cheersad:

Yeah the GPU market is a joke atm, it's funny seeing RX480's selling for more than their retail price a year ago, shit I even got my 7950 at the start of the year for just under £70 and now they're £100+. After doing some research I'll probably be grabbing a 780TI over a 970 since I've read the 970 VRAM thing (marketed as 4 but actually 3.5) can cause issues once you go past 3.5GB. To be fair I don't need that much gpu power anyway, 1080p is fine for me and the only newer titles I really play are V/CSGO.
Good steal on the 6950, I snagged a 580 the other week that was "untested" for £5. I don't currently have a PSU capable of testing it so it's just sitting in a drawer but hopefully it'll work (or I can do the oven method), if not it's only £5. Good to hear the 6970 runs though, chuck a decent PSU up in there and you'll probably be able to OC the Xeon to about 3.5 (I think I saw it's a P5Q board), oc'ing 775 always seemed a little finicky to me because of the RAM but you should be able to bump it up a little bit and your sister will have a fairly competent rig.
Hopefully once I finish this up I can get around to building myself a desk as I'm still cramped for space atm. Also I can't believe I forgot to fucking mention this, when I was looking for a case I spotted an ebay auction for an "unbranded white tower PC case" which was actually a Fractal Define R5. Admittedly it's a little beat up but I snagged it for £20 which is a great price, on unboxing guess what's inside the fucking thing?

Current situation, still a WIP; Waiting on two x5667s, some extensions for the PCIE cables, SATA cables so I can get the drive bay mounted back up the front, a few case fans and that'll be it for the time being. Been looking at doing a custom loop after watching OzTalksHW's vid on a cheap loop, not a necessity but I've always wanted to do it. The syscooling sc-300t pump seems to be getting fairly good reviews all around and the cheap block(s) I would use are also looking to be decent. Longevity of the blocks would be the main concern but we'll see.

EVGA make MB since 2006 with the famous 680i LGA775, they had the particularity of having NVIDIA nForce chipset for 3X SLI x16.There are always EVGA MB but uncommon except in the United States and you should not be afraid of spend $ 400 on a motherboard.

Please overclock that 980X ASAP - you'll go from 3.3GHz all core turbo to 4.0GHz easily just with 200 bclk, 20 multi and some vcore bumps. Can also push it a bit higher depending on how good the chip is, X56XX series xeons can hit 4.5ish.

I remember my EVGA X58 running hot (nearly as much as my old GTX 580 SLI) on the northbridge with BCLK increasing. Therefore, I did with the multiplier o/c. The stock frequency is enough for GTA III/VC and about editing I use GPU acceleration with CUDA.
