I don't know why, but nowadays I have to press my account and log in to XP, before when I started the computer it skipped that step. Is it possible for me to get it back to like it was before, so I don't need to press my account picture?
Also, now when I press CTRL+Alt+Delete I get to some account window, not directly to the task manager. Is it possible to fix this too, so I get directly to the task manager?
Thanks.

I have exactly the same problem since yesterday .

Ooh, this sounds really familiar, I must have known something about it at some stage, but unfortunately I cannot think of anything now.
There is a work-around for fixing the welcome screen problem, and that is by using "Tweak UI" (in which you can set it to make the computer log in to a specific user automatically).
But I am pretty sure there is another (more normal) way of doing it, I just can't think of it at the moment.
EDIT:
Maybe go to the User Accounts section of control panel, and make sure you got 'Fast User Switching' turned on, that could be the solution.

I am no Fox or Gunner but here's I think you can resolve it:
Go to Start - Control Panel - User Accounts - Pick a task... - Change the way users log on or off
Don't know if this helps in any way

I can get to that screen, but if I change it I end up with a window where I have to write password and press ok, instead of the other welcome screen with the avatar. I still not get the fast start-up I want.
And Dannye, fast user switching has nothing to do with this problem.
Thanks though.

I have the same problem. When ypu exit VC Does the screen come up black. It does for me and i have to use the keypad keys to log off then log back on.
-
It's even worse for me, I have to wait 5 seconds to press on "Continue" in a message that comes up after I press on my account. And I can't even install Service Pack 2.

dload tweak xp tack, the thing dannyes talking about, you can change and set everything to do with xp that you cant normally do.
-
Is anyone here using Tweak XP? If so, please confirm that it works well. I really don't want to end up in a worse situation.
Thanks though stuntman and the rest.

Tweak XP is very good.

We were dealing with this in school, but I can't remember, how we changed it. Damn, if anyone finds out, how to change it before me, than is good.(I don't want you to wait for me, because I really can't remember and I need to check notebooks) Wtf is Tweak Xp? Something to tweak XP? I dunno if this is really a good idea. Try it, if everyone says so though.

Arg! I wrote a nice little post describing my thoughts on Tweak UI and now its gone
EDIT - Okay I'll try to re-post my thoughts
I use Tweak UI (which I assume is just an older version of Tweak XP, although I am not really sure) and I find it to be a great little tool to have. Its got quite a few nifty features, such as: editing whats in the start menu to a greater extent than you can do with windows normally, removing the ugly looking shortcut arrow that appears on top of the icon with shortcuts, changing thumbnail quality, changing which icon appears as the first on the desktop, changing what appears in the right click "New" submenu, and many more (and I gather there would be even more in a newer version, seein as mine is pretty old). Its a handy tool with a straightforward interface and is simple to use.

I saw that post before it was gone, but my answer to that post is also deleted...
Well, I downloaded that and it seems cool. Though I can't really find where to fix the welcome screen. Am I just missing that setting? Please tell me where to find it, if there is one. Thanks for your help Dannye, I appreciate it.

Oh, I missed those "+"-signs the first time I looked, so I didn't get to that setting.
Thank you.
