Title: cyclic redundancy check(CRC) Problem
Post by: Greendead on October 01, 2006, 08:26:33 AM
I don't understand what the hell is wrong with this.    My friend has ''Just Cause'' and he burned Rars on DVD. He said that I need to put Rars or my PC and then extract them. He showed me on his computer and it worked. And now I try to do that on my PC and guess what: That damn ''cyclic redundancy check error'' shows up at 98%. I am so pissed off.   And same thing does to F.E.A.R.. I try to install it and *paf* CRC. Does anyone know, what the hell is this and how to fix it?

How can CD be bad, if I tried CD at my friend and it worked and in the next 2 minutes, I came home and put it in my computer? And btw...I had Cd in my hand all way to my home. But if it's damaged, why is SA working then? I have that DVD all damaged and I have no box for it.

I ran into this problem.  It actually had to do with the folders (at least for me) that it was trying to install too.  It seemed there was a conflict because there was already a folder with the games manufacturer there so it got confused.

Like how GTA games install under a Rockstar Games directory.

I could be terribly wrong here but maybe yer CD/DVD drive isn't as good as your friends' one. I think something like that happened to me once. I put the DVD into my dad's laptop and it worked there. I extracted the rar on his laptop, made a small network and transferred it to to my own pc.

Well  Turtle dick   close. but not  True... its like maybe he scretched a small part of dvd... and becouse of this scretch he cant  read...  but  it could be readable on a new or 1 ,2 month  new Cd /dvd drive   ...

I m sure its mainly caused by ur drive.

Rar isn't fully io compatible so its a bad idea. use compressed rars crypted as iso instead.

also try other disc types and/or another unpacker like IZArc

No its NOT that stupid scrath in a stupid disk.
I think it only can be your CD/DVD drive.

Or do as the wise man said and buy CD/DVD Repair Proâ„¢.

No, It's not my DVD Drive. Because it let me extract Rar from the other DVD.  But anyway...we fixed it. We did it in a different way. And now it works.
