Title: Tackleberry's Photo Gallery
Post by: Tackleberry on August 03, 2006, 05:14:40 PM
Well, I just got a new camera (Sony Cyber-shot W70). It's not very special, but it's the first digital camera I own. Therefore I will now start taking photos, and I will make this gallery to some kind of "photo-diary". Here I will post my photos to share them with you.

Please feel free to comment, give advice, rate and discuss.

Pictures soon to come.

Update:
The Sony Cyber-shot W70 broke, but since 28/7 -08 I bought a Nikon D40. Pictures posted after that date are taken with the D40.

Looking forward to them, don't forget to use focus! And don't ever take photos against the sun/light, let the light come from the sides or the back.
I'm stuck with a shitty Digital IXUS v2 with a shitty focus function. I want a new one...

3th August 2006.

Today I got my camera. Unfortunately I didn't got much time to use it, because of charging the battery. In the meantime I read through the manual. I read some important stuff and nice tips, but I've already forgot much of it. Anyway, when the charging finally was finished I started playing with the camera by photo one of our cats (probably the ugliest...). I fixed the lightning and tried some close-ups. Here's the third pic I took with the camera:

[img]http://img455.imageshack.us/img455/2552/ninjaqa9.th.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"IPB Image\" /] (http://img455.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ninjaqa9.jpg)
It was already completely black outside, so I had to stay indoors. I went to my room, catched the old handball and took some pics of it. Here's two outcomes:

[img]http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/8581/climax2kopieraop8.th.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"IPB Image\" /] (http://img207.imageshack.us/my.php?image=climax2kopieraop8.jpg)

[img]http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/8981/climaxkopierava9.th.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"IPB Image\" /] (http://img207.imageshack.us/my.php?image=climaxkopierava9.jpg)

Well, these are my first pics with the camera, so I didn't expect they to be better. I'm still learning and I haven't explored all it's settings yet. Hopefully I'll be able to get some nice outdoor pics tomorrow. Maybe got some advice, ideas or suggestion? If so, please tell me.

4th August 2006.

Today it was time to discover some new stuff with the camera. I played around with settings and stuff. Though I was at home all day, so I didn't photo much landscapes and bigger photos. Instead I walked around in our garden and tried some close-ups. Also I photo some of my home to show you. All pics of today were taken in our garden.

I started with photoing some weird flowers and insects, here are some of the outcomes:

[img]http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/7082/Bumblebeekopiera.th.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"IPB Image\" /] (http://img210.imageshack.us/my.php?image=Bumblebeekopiera.jpg)

At the pics above I worked a lot with focus and colors. Then I moved on and took some effect looking photos:

[img]http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/7700/woolkopierapo3.th.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"IPB Image\" /] (http://img205.imageshack.us/my.php?image=woolkopierapo3.jpg)
(This is some wool-thingy we have...)

(Reflection at our car, of my younger brother)

I also took some pics of my home:

(The house which we live in)

(Taken from the lower part of the garden. The red building is our garage and also my parents offices are there)

[img]http://img238.imageshack.us/img238/949/shoeskopieranf5.th.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"IPB Image\" /] (http://img238.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shoeskopieranf5.jpg)
(Taken from our little cottage, which is my brother's room)

...And my little brother:

(Photoshop edited in the way he wanted)

Hope you got the time to watch and enjoy them all.

I've been a bit active but here are some highlights from 7/8 to 11/8:

[img]http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/80/gulblommavidjrnvgrn1.th.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"IPB Image\" /] (http://img234.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gulblommavidjrnvgrn1.jpg)
(I took a pic of my brother. It was quite good, but then I saw this macro opportunity instead)

[img]http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/4707/kernnf5.th.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"IPB Image\" /] (http://img232.imageshack.us/my.php?image=kernnf5.jpg)
(Some people say they like it, but I don't. The quality isn't great IMO)

(I usually practice by shooting golf from our garden. Then, when walking round the place where they usually land, I find this one lying perfect for a photo)

[img]http://img54.imageshack.us/img54/2295/prickenuu6.th.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"IPB Image\" /] (http://img54.imageshack.us/my.php?image=prickenuu6.jpg)
(One of our 3 cats. I didn't put him on the car, saw him lying there when passing by)

It's hard to see I know. That's part of the concept though. I took it in a very weird angle, with weird lightning and it was very dark. It's a actually a snail on a tree, and the photo is taken from above looking down. Oh and the blue isn't made in photoshop, that I added by a small flashlight.

I've been told at other sites (gfx/photo forums), that they aren't that impressive. It would be awesome if your teacher could comment though, I would really appreciate that. Wheter you ask her or not, thanks a lot.

I used macro mode, yes. Though I made the effect slighty stronger in PS, by blurring the background just a little.

Thanks for the comment.

There nice photos, maybe do some ones of ponds and the sea ? ( i do alot of piers and skaters ). And try putting the camera on the floor alittle more ( it makes a nice effect ).

8/10 nice.
It's not so easy for me to take photos of something I can't visit, at least not right now... Also, isn't this one taken from a low angle, just as you suggested me to?

Great pictures Tackleberry  . They take ages to load for me  .

Not really, actually. Well it's not bad, but it's not meant for "professional" (you know what I mean) photographing. I like it though, simple and easy to use.

I'd like to see the differences of one of those pics between the original one and the final-photoshopped one.

Anyone in particular? Tell me one or two and I'll get them uploaded tomorrow. I let all my photos go through PS, some more, some less. I guess that is what make you think they look perfect, without editing there would be a big difference.

Thanks for the comments.

Just to let you know, you can't freeze a paintball in a regular freezer. It would only make the shell weaker and they would easier break in the barrel.

Its 6mp, Ive took some nice shots of the sky with some wierd cloud formations but Im not sure if this camera is good enough to take pictures of the calibre of the ones in this thread. Have a look and get back to me please mate, cheers.

After just a short read; it should be very possible for you to take pictures like the ones in this thread. From what I have read, your camera doesn't seem to be no worse than mine, it's more leaning towards that your is a tad better. Good luck with your photography.

You are still producing quality pictures! i like the atmosphere(english?) in those pics from Bulgaria and of course the two cats, brilliant! Oh and in my oppinion, in that last shot of Bulgary you should have held back a tiny bit on the photoshopping. It's still an amazing shot, i just feel the colors are a tad unnatural. But then again It does look great with the fog in the background.

Great pics man, Im actually going to a University Majoring in Photography so this is great! I recommend you buy a Kodak Easy Share C875 *8 mega-pixel , its the most quality you can get for the price. I bought this one a while back and I LOVE IT the pictures are taken at around 3200x2800, about the size of a poster in full definition. Plus if you want to do manual photography pick up and old Pentax body with a Nikon Lens. Youll get some amazing stuff guaranteed, maybe I should start one of these, I have around 3000 pictures.

My camera is broken, so this topic won't be updated for a long time.

Was with my old team on a paintball practice (inside with so called "reballs"), and decided to film and take some photos. Was hit right on the camera, which now is quite broken. Was recording at the time, would be cool if it's possible to recover the clip somehow...

I wish I had a good camera right now, in my town every stick of every tree is covered in ice, and on the ground is no snow or ice at all, but the rest: all plants, all trees, are white. Very beatiful.

I finally got a camera again, a Nikon D40. Here are some photos:

I'm using a screen with a bit weird color settings right now, so the colors might not be perfect.

Thank you, thanks for the comments to the previous photos too. It's funnier to photograph when people get to see the outcomes and can comment them. Constructive criticism would be very appreciated.

I resize them to that size, so they are easier to watch in the browser. Got every pic (unedited too) in bigger res.

Actually the first pic is the one I like the least out of those, but thanks for your comment.

More comments would be much appreciated, especially if there's anyone who could give some critique I could learn from. Thanks.

I just use a Nikon D40 together with the stock lense ("Nikon D40 + 18-55/3,5-5,6"). And in difference to your pics, these have gone through much digital alterations.

i use that one too on my D40x, it doesn't really matter weather you digitally edit them or not, i think as long as you are happy with the end results, then its all worth it

you should have a look for the AF 50mm f/1.8, they go for about $100 and are so worth it, you can make photos wit ha super small DOF and its a incredibly sharp lens

Thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking of getting a new lense soon, so I'll definitely take a look at that one.

Do you have any good experiences from any (I don't know the English name for the following word, but you might understand the word we use in Sweden) "telezoom" lenses too?

as far as telezooms go, you get what you pay for, i bought a cheap $200 55-200mm f/4-5.6 and its kinda ok

but then i upgraded to a 70-200mm f/2.8 and its makes a world of difference
