Yeh i dont know if Java is the correct app for ya

Good tools to start are:

Visual Basic and other basic languages (Win apps)
Delphi (Win apps and more complex stuff)
Dark Basic (2D and 3D Games)
Flash (Website)

Harder langs:

C++ (Win apps)
ASM (Direct hardware calls)

Game hacking or modding:

Texture editors as paintshop (To edit textures)
Artmoney or TSearch (Memory scanner)

I'm also starting to learn Java. I found this awesome site.
